About the role
We're looking for a sharp, proactive operator to join our People & Client Experience team as a Senior Country Specialist. You'll own a portfolio of countries end-to-end — the go-to person clients and their employees rely on throughout the employment lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of client relationship management, operations, compliance, and cross-functional coordination. You'll work daily with legal, payroll, onboarding, finance, and client teams to keep things running smoothly, resolve escalations fast, and make sure every client gets guidance they can trust.
This isn't a narrow HR role — it's a great fit for people who've built their careers in client success, account management, operations, consulting, project management, or international business, and who are comfortable learning the compliance and employment-law layer on the job. What matters most is how you operate: can you own a complex, ambiguous problem, coordinate across teams, manage a tense escalation calmly, and build trust with people who are relying on you to get it right?
What you'll be doing 📈
- Act as the primary point of ownership for your portfolio of countries — the person clients and colleagues turn to when something needs to get resolved.
- Own the post-onboarding employee lifecycle, coordinating across teams to keep things compliant and on track from onboarding through offboarding.
- Manage and resolve complex, often high-stakes client and employee queries — spanning payroll, HR, legal, and compliance topics — even when you don't have the answer memorized.
- Lead client and employee escalations, pulling in the right internal teams and in-country partners to land timely, commercially sound solutions.
- Build genuine, trusted relationships with clients and employees through consistent, proactive communication.
- Partner closely with legal, payroll, finance and onboarding teams to deliver a seamless experience.
- Keep contracts, policies, and internal records accurate and audit-ready.
- Track legislative and compliance changes across your countries and translate them into practical internal guidance.
- Contribute to compliance projects, country research, and process improvements that strengthen how we operate globally.
- Manage relationships with in-country partners, holding them accountable to quality and delivery.
- Keep CRM and internal platforms accurate and current.
- Spot and drive opportunities to improve process, documentation, and the overall client experience.
Some of the reasons we'll love you 💚
- You've operated in a client-facing role where you owned outcomes, not just tickets — think account management, client success, consulting, operations, or program/project management, ideally with an international or multi-market dimension. Background in HR, EOR, or employment law is a plus, not a requirement.
- You're genuinely good in a crisis: you can take a heated escalation, keep people calm, and drive it to resolution.
- You pick up new domains quickly and enjoy researching and interpreting rules, legislation, or policy you didn't grow up knowing.
- You thrive in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment where priorities shift and you have to build the plane while flying it.
- You take ownership by default, and you're comfortable making judgment calls while looping in the right people.
- You have strong stakeholder management skills — you can flex your communication for a nervous employee, a demanding client, or an internal legal team.
- You're organized and detail-oriented enough to manage many moving parts across multiple countries without dropping the ball.
- You balance being deeply customer-focused with a commercial, risk-aware mindset.
- You're fluent in English; additional European languages (German, Dutch, Danish, or French especially) are a strong plus.
- Experience with HRIS, CRM tools, or global payroll platforms is a bonus, not a prerequisite.
