Senior Data Engineer – Databricks | Contract | MUST BE BASED IN EUROPE

Location: Benelux or Nordics

Work model: Remote, with occasional agreed client travel

Contract: Initial 12 months with extension potential

Start: As soon as possible

Rate: €500 per day, depending on experience

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to support major Databricks projects for international customers.

This opportunity would suit someone already taking responsibility for solution design, technical decisions and customer discussions, even if your current title is not Solutions Architect.

What you will do

Design and implement production Databricks solutions.

Build and optimise data pipelines using Spark, PySpark, Python and SQL.

Lead technical discussions with customers and translate business requirements into solutions.

Improve the performance, reliability and scalability of Databricks workloads.

Support architecture decisions, testing, CI/CD and deployment.

Share knowledge with engineers and customer teams.

What we need

At least five years of experience in data or software engineering.

Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and Apache Spark.

Python or Scala development experience.

Experience delivering data solutions on Azure, AWS or GCP.

Evidence of designing or owning production data platforms and pipelines.

Confidence communicating with customers and senior stakeholders.

Experience with CI/CD, testing, orchestration and SQL.

Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional certification.

Useful additional experience

Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.

Hadoop, NoSQL, MPP, OLTP or OLAP technologies.

MLflow, machine learning or model deployment.

Customer workshops, mentoring or technical training.

Pre-sales, post-sales or consultancy experience.
