We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team in London, United Kingdom in a hybrid working mode. In this role, you will design, build, and optimize end-to-end data foundations and analytical solutions to enable data-driven decision-making and increase business value. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for implementing modern data engineering practices, driving technical excellence, and mentoring junior team members. This position requires both deep technical knowledge and the ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders to translate data strategy into actionable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data solutions and pipelines for enterprise data platforms
  • Develop data models, manage ETL/ELT processes, and ensure data quality and compliance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to embed data-driven thinking across business functions
  • Implement efficient data ingestion and integration workflows across cloud environments
  • Drive adoption of data foundation initiatives and best engineering practices
  • Coordinate change, incident, and problem management processes
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers on solution design and technical practices
  • Present data insights, architecture reports, and recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Ensure implementation efficiency and consistent project delivery standards
  • Contribute to internal communities, including Centers of Excellence (CoE) and Communities of Practice (CoP)

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Master-level expertise in AWS, Azure, or SAP data ecosystems
  • Strong proficiency in ELT, data modeling, and data integration
  • Skilled in data manipulation, processing, and orchestration frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with Data Factory, Databricks, SQL DB, Synapse, Stream Analytics, Glue, Airflow, Kinesis, Redshift, SonarQube, and PyTest
  • Proficiency with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and Azure DevOps
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to align technical and business stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead solution delivery and enhance team performance
  • Strong analytical decision-making and governance capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline

Nice to have

  • Experience managing agile or scrum teams
  • Exposure to BPC or other enterprise planning tools
  • Experience working within external technical ecosystems and vendor environments
  • Familiarity with MKDocs documentation tools
  • Experience in commodity trading and supply operations, ideally within the energy sector
