Job Description

Help shape a data platform supporting millions of exchanges each year, creating trusted foundations for analytics, reporting and business decisions.

You & Your Function

Design, develop and optimise data platforms connecting internal and external systems across Insurance & Pensions and its partners. As a Senior Data Engineer, you ensure reliable data movement, scalable models and high-quality analytics solutions. You translate complex business requirements into robust, maintainable cloud-native solutions, enabling automation, personalisation and data-driven decision-making while ensuring data reaches the right systems at the right time and quality.

Examples for Practices

• Help shape the squad’s future by growing its team size, expertise and portfolio of data solutions, while establishing best practices for Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, code coverage, maintainability, CI/CD optimisation and uniform coding standards.

• Transform the metadata-driven ETL framework into an event-driven architecture, building on the existing metadata database and Python ETL package.

• Develop a self-service data platform that lets consumers create and maintain their own queries, using provided data products to populate the gold layer of the data lakehouse.

• Data engineering and analytics using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Python, SQL, data modelling, data warehousing and Apache Airflow.

• Cloud and platform engineering with Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation), Azure DevOps, scripting and networking fundamentals.

• Engineering excellence through CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, observability, operational support, secrets management and security best practices.
