Are you passionate about turning complex data into clear, meaningful insights that help shape business decisions?
Join our Data Science & Analytics team and help us unlock the value of data across our Aerospace, Defence and Security business. This team sits at the heart of the organisation, bringing together data from across the business into a centralised data lake and transforming it into reporting, analytics and insight that supports operational, tactical and strategic decision-making.
You'll work with a collaborative team based primarily in Newport, where the team comes together in person once a month to share ideas, solve challenges and strengthen relationships. The team's work supports both internal stakeholders and clients, with much of the reporting providing critical insight to senior leaders across the business. You'll have the opportunity to work with modern data platforms, analytical tooling and emerging technologies to help create a more data-led culture and deliver solutions that drive better business outcomes.
We can offer great career progression opportunities, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs, and training and development opportunities. This role is hybrid, with monthly team meetings in Newport and additional travel as required for collaboration and business needs.
What you'll be doing:
· Develop and enhance reporting, dashboards and analytical products that provide insight to senior business leaders and customers.
· Centralise, cleanse, validate and model data from multiple business systems within modern data platforms and data lake environments.
· Build and maintain data pipelines, automated solutions and analytical tools using technologies including Python, SQL and Power BI.
· Design and deliver forecasting, planning and predictive analytics solutions that support informed decision-making.
· Identify opportunities to improve data quality, automate reporting processes and enhance analytics capabilities across the business.
· Communicate insights through compelling visualisations and data storytelling that help stakeholders understand what the data is telling them.
What you'll bring:
· Experience analysing, interpreting and presenting complex data from multiple sources to support business decision-making.
· Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets and relational databases.
· Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation and modelling within modern analytical environments.
· Experience developing dashboards, reports and visualisations using Power BI.
· Experience working with Azure-based data environments, data lakes and data modelling concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into practical analytical solutions.
It would be great if you had:
· Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse architectures or other modern cloud-based analytics platforms.
· Knowledge of machine learning, artificial intelligence and forecasting techniques and their practical business application.
