Senior Databricks Solution Architect (m/f/d) | Financial Services

For a long-term project with a client in the financial services sector, we are looking for an experienced Senior Databricks Solution Architect with proven hands-on experience designing and implementing Databricks platforms.

• Start: 12 October 2026
• Duration: 2 months initially, with strong extension potential (1–2 years possible)
• Workload: Full-time
• Location: Vienna / Remote
• On-site: 1 day per week in Vienna
• Remote share: 80%
• Language: English
• Contract type: B2B / Freelance
• MD Rate: up to €480/day

Your responsibilities

• Review the existing Databricks architecture and recommend improvements to increase platform maturity
• Assess and optimize the planned AWS target architecture
• Design and advise on modern data warehouse and lakehouse architectures
• Support migration scenarios from Oracle and SAS to Databricks
• Advise on cloud and hyperscaler-to-hyperscaler migrations
• Support data warehouse teams with upcoming BI proof-of-concepts
• Advise on Customer Data Platform and CRM architecture
• Provide hands-on architectural guidance and knowledge transfer to the internal team

What we are looking for

• Extensive experience as a Databricks Solution Architect / Data Platform Architect
• Proven experience with at least one end-to-end Databricks implementation
• Deep knowledge of Databricks, Lakehouse architecture and enterprise data platforms
• Strong experience with AWS architecture and cloud migration projects
• Experience with data warehouse modernization and migration projects
• Experience with Oracle and/or SAS migrations to Databricks
• Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work hands-on while also owning architectural decisions
• Financial services / banking experience is highly preferred

Experience with Azure Databricks, BI platforms or CRM environments is an advantage.

We are looking for a senior architect who can quickly understand an existing enterprise data landscape, challenge the current architecture and provide practical guidance for the next stage of the Databricks platform.
