Senior Developer - Data Products

About the Role We are looking for a senior developer to help build and improve Newsmatics’ data-driven products for news discovery, media transparency, and monitoring. You will contribute to existing products, including Perspectify, as well as new products developed by the team. The role combines hands-on development with solution design, data processing, backend services, APIs, integrations, and production delivery. About Us Newsmatics is a privately held global News Tech company headquartered in Washington, D.C. We build platforms for media monitoring, analytics, news distribution, and news transparency. Our brands include EIN Presswire, Affinity Group Publishing, Newsmatics News Index, and Perspectify. We collect and structure large volumes of global news and publisher data. Our international remote-first team values autonomy, curiosity, accountability, and measurable impact. What You Will Do Develop and improve backend services, APIs, data workflows, and internal tools. Turn data, research, and analytical outputs into useful product functionality. Contribute to solution architecture, data models, integrations, and technology choices. Evaluate available approaches and develop prototypes for new product capabilities. Improve the reliability, performance, and maintainability of new and existing solutions. Collaborate with data scientists, developers, product and UX colleagues, and external partners. What We Are Looking For Senior-level experience delivering software, data products, or other technical solutions in a production environment. Practical experience with backend development, APIs, and data processing using Python or TypeScript. Good understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and SQL. Experience deploying and maintaining solutions in cloud or Linux environments. Sound technical judgment, ownership, and the ability to take a solution from initial design to production. The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in English within an international remote team. Experience with machine learning, NLP, LLM integrations, frontend development, data visualization, or DevOps is an advantage, but not a requirement. Environment & Technologies Our core environment includes Python, TypeScript, SQL, REST APIs, AWS, and Linux. You may also encounter Ruby, MySQL/Aurora, Sphinx (search engine), Redis, Docker, BigQuery. You do not need experience with every technology listed.
