Senior DevOps Engineer - GCP
VANRATHWe’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong, hands-on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience to join a major cloud transformation programme.
This is a 12-month contract, with extensions considered likely, focused on migrating infrastructure from on-premise environments into GCP and building the cloud platforms, automation and infrastructure needed to support the transformation.
The role will initially require approximately 2–3 days per week onsite in Stockport, moving to predominantly remote working once established.
The role
You’ll join a cloud engineering team responsible for designing, building and automating new GCP infrastructure.
This is primarily a project and engineering role rather than BAU support, with operational responsibility handed over to TechOps once solutions are established.
You’ll be working across:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Kubernetes / GKE
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
- Linux
- Cloud networking and security
- Infrastructure automation
- Bash / Python
- Ansible
- CI/CD
What we're looking for:
Strong, recent hands-on GCP experience is essential for this role.
We’re particularly interested in engineers who have worked directly on GCP infrastructure, cloud migrations or major GCP transformation programmes, rather than candidates whose cloud experience is primarily AWS or Azure.
You’ll also need strong experience with:
- Kubernetes, ideally GKE
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
- Linux systems administration
- Cloud infrastructure and networking
- Automation and scripting
Experience with Ansible, AWS, CI/CD and cloud security would be useful but isn't essential.
If you’re a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong GCP, Kubernetes/GKE, Terraform and Linux experience and want a long-term contract focused on cloud migration and engineering, we’d like to hear from you.
Up to £500/day | Inside IR35 | 12 months | Stockport / Hybrid
