About Leonards
Leonards is a full-service marketing and advertising agency with offices in Surry Hills, Sydney, and Cremorne, Melbourne. We're a "360-degree partner": we do the strategy and the execution, and we use data to guide our creative and media decisions. Our work covers four areas:
- Media and strategy: research and media planning
- Creative: branding and campaigns
- Web: websites
- Integrated advertising: print, digital, social, outdoor and broadcast
Our media team plans and buys across Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Spotify, broadcast video on demand (BVOD) and programmatic. Our clients are in tourism and local government, education, sport and financial services.
You'll work with our account, creative, web and analytics teams, so you see a campaign through from the brief to the results.
The role
We want someone who can do both halves of the job: build the plan, then run the buying. You'll turn briefs and audience insights into media plans, launch and optimise campaigns across programmatic and other digital channels, and be able to talk clients through how they're going. You'll be one of the more experienced people on the team, and we'd expect you to share what you know.
What you'll do
- Turn client briefs into media plans: channels, audiences, budgets and timing.
- Set up and run campaigns in DSPs and platform ad managers, including real-time bidding, private marketplace (PMP) deals and programmatic direct.
- Check performance every day and adjust bids, budgets, targeting, placements and creative to hit campaign goals.
- Build audiences from first-party data, behavioural and contextual signals, and approved third-party data, within Australian privacy rules.
- Track CPM, CPC, CTR, CPA, conversion rate and ROAS (plus reach and frequency for brand campaigns) and report back with clear recommendations.
- Join client meetings, explain how campaigns are going in plain English and answer questions.
- Work with account management, creative, web and analytics so media supports each client's goals.
- Share best practice with the team and help colleagues build their skills.
About you
- A diploma or degree in marketing, advertising, business, data analytics or similar, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years in digital media planning and buying, programmatic or performance marketing
- Experience talking to clients and explaining plans and results clearly
- Working knowledge of at least one DSP, such as Google Display & Video 360, The Trade Desk, Adform or Amazon DSP
- Confidence with data, and with Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio, Excel or similar tools
- A solid grasp of digital metrics, attribution and conversion tracking
- Good attention to detail, and the ability to keep several campaigns and clients moving at once
You are
- Analytical and commercially minded
- A clear communicator, comfortable with clients as well as numbers
- Proactive and quick to adapt
- Happy to back decisions with data
- Comfortable working on your own and as part of a team
- Curious about ad tech and what's new in digital marketing
What we offer
- A senior role with regular client contact alongside the planning and buying
- A mix of clients across several sectors
- Close work with our Programmatic Buying Lead
- Exposure to strategy, creative and web work in a full-service agency
- Great hybrid work life balance and an amazing team
