The Role
Quotient Sciences is looking for an experienced commercial leader to drive new business and revenue growth across our drug product development and manufacturing services. This is a senior, high-impact opportunity to shape territory strategy, build trusted relationships with pharmaceutical and biotech clients, and secure complex programs spanning formulation development, clinical manufacturing and commercial supply.
Reporting to the VP, Global Commercial Drug Product, you will manage the complete business development lifecycle, from identifying market opportunities and developing client relationships through proposal development, commercial negotiation and contract execution. Working closely with technical, operational, finance and marketing teams, you will help translate clients’ scientific and development needs into commercially successful solutions.
This is a remote position requiring regular travel to client locations, Quotient Sciences facilities, conferences and industry events.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute a sales and territory strategy aligned with company revenue and growth objectives.
- Identify, qualify and secure new business opportunities across drug product development and manufacturing services.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with pharmaceutical and biotech clients.
- Manage the complete sales process, from initial engagement and opportunity qualification through proposal, negotiation and contract execution.
- Achieve agreed sales, revenue and territory objectives while maintaining commercially appropriate project margins.
- Work with technical and operational teams to develop solutions that meet client requirements and can be delivered successfully.
- Lead the preparation, review and presentation of proposals, work orders, change controls and commercial amendments.
- Establish appropriate pricing, billing milestones and invoicing arrangements in partnership with Finance.
- Manage and grow existing client relationships, identifying opportunities to expand into additional services and programs.
- Maintain accurate opportunity, account and pipeline information within Salesforce or an equivalent CRM platform.
- Partner with Marketing to support campaigns, events, conferences and other business development activities.
- Coordinate the commercial handover and project kickoff process, ensuring client expectations, project scope and delivery timelines are clearly communicated.
- Support project teams in delivering a positive and responsive client experience.
- Remain informed about pharmaceutical industry developments, competitor activity and emerging market opportunities.
- Represent Quotient Sciences at client meetings, trade shows and industry events.
- Operate in accordance with applicable GMP requirements, company procedures and relevant federal and state regulations.
Skills and experience required
Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Significant relevant experience in business development, sales or commercial account management.
- Experience working within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO or contract pharmaceutical services industry.
- Demonstrated success generating new business, developing sales pipelines and securing complex client programs.
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical drug development lifecycle and drug product services.
- Experience developing proposals, negotiating commercial terms and managing opportunities through to contract execution.
- Ability to interpret technical and commercial information, including requests for proposals, analytical methods, formulation reports and statements of work.
- Strong commercial judgment, including the ability to evaluate pricing, margins, billing milestones and project requirements.
- Excellent written, presentation, influencing and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, technical specialists, operational leaders and senior stakeholders.
- Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM system.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness and attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%.
Desirable criteria
- Established relationships within the US pharmaceutical or biotechnology market.
- Experience selling formulation development, clinical manufacturing or commercial manufacturing services.
- Experience managing complex, long-term CDMO client relationships.
- Knowledge of GMP requirements and applicable FDA, EPA, OSHA or DEA regulations.
- Experience collaborating with laboratory, formulation, manufacturing and project management teams.
