Senior Director, Clinical Systems

As a Senior Director, Clinical Systems at ICON Plc, you will oversee the development, implementation, and management of clinical systems and technologies.


What You Will Do:

You will direct scientific operations activities, ensuring quality, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the strategic planning, development, and implementation of clinical systems, including Electronic Data Capture (EDC), Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), and other technologies supporting clinical trials.
  • Overseeing the integration and optimization of clinical systems to ensure seamless data flow, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including clinical operations, data management, and IT, to define system requirements, address operational challenges, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Providing strategic direction on system selection, implementation, and maintenance, ensuring alignment with study objectives, data quality standards, and organizational goals.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovation in clinical systems and enhance trial management and data analysis capabilities.

Your Profile:

You will bring significant scientific operations experience, with a track record of building high-performing teams and delivering results.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or healthcare-related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Extensive experience in managing clinical systems, with a proven track record of overseeing the implementation and optimization of EDC, CTMS, and other clinical technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in strategic planning, project management, and cross-functional collaboration within the clinical research environment.
  • Expertise in system integration, data management, and regulatory compliance, with a deep understanding of clinical trial processes and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly, influence decision-making, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as required (approximately 10%)
