You can influence outcomes and meet diverse challenges.
Here's your chance to design and deliver efficient, customer-focused services that also enhance accessibility, sustainability and overall quality of living for more people than you've imagined.
In this role, you'll:
Help shape the future of rail access and pricing across New South Wales.
This is not your typical modelling role. As a Senior Economic Modeller, you'll influence decisions that impact the entire rail network, helping determine how rail operators are charged to access critical infrastructure and ensuring pricing remains fair, sustainable and aligned with regulatory requirements.
You'll develop and maintain complex financial, pricing, revenue and cost models that underpin investment and funding decisions across the network. Working at the intersection of economics, infrastructure and public policy, you'll provide expert advice, deliver insights that support government decision-making and contribute to the long-term sustainability of rail in NSW.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a major freight and rail access reform program, contributing to the development of new rail access pricing frameworks and methodologies that could influence the logistics and transport landscape for years to come. Your work will support a safer, more efficient rail network, encourage the movement of freight from road to rail, and help deliver broader economic and environmental benefits for communities across the state.

About you
You're an experienced modeller who enjoys solving complex problems and influencing decisions through robust analysis.
You bring strong economic or financial modelling capability and can confidently translate technical information into practical recommendations for a diverse range of stakeholders. Whether your experience comes from transport, rail, utilities, energy, infrastructure, regulation or another commercially complex environment, you'll understand how effective modelling drives better outcomes.
We're looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to help design and evolve pricing frameworks, not simply maintain existing models. You'll be naturally curious, commercially minded and motivated by the chance to contribute to a piece of work that will have a lasting impact on how rail infrastructure is funded and managed across NSW.
To be successful, you'll bring:
• Advanced economic and financial modelling skills.
• Experience in pricing, revenue modelling, forecasting and analysis.
• Strong commercial and strategic thinking capability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Experience working within regulatory environments or with regulatory bodies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Business, Mathematics, Econometrics, Engineering or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
This is a fixed term opportunity until 30th June 2029.
