What You'll Do Technical Leadership & Engineering Development Lead and coordinate FEED and conceptual engineering activities for distributed generation and microgrid projects. Develop electrical scopes, design criteria, and basis-of-design documentation aligned with client goals and industry standards. Support conceptual layouts, one-line diagrams, and preliminary equipment sizing for power generation and distribution systems. Evaluate technical alternatives to optimize system performance, reliability, constructability, cost, and schedule. Help drive critical design decisions involving system topology, redundancy strategies, and protection schemes. Power Systems Design & Analysis Develop concept-level power system models using ETAP or similar software. Perform and support load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies. Review and develop electrical system configurations utilizing industry best practices and applicable standards. Ensure designs comply with NEC, ANSI, IEEE, and other relevant codes and standards. Prepare and review technical memoranda, design basis documents, and engineering deliverables. Collaboration & Project Execution Partner with project managers, system engineers, and discipline leads to ensure seamless integration across project teams. Work with equipment vendors and technical specialists to evaluate solutions and incorporate technical data into FEED deliverables. Support engineering efforts through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and startup activities. Provide technical expertise that helps transform concepts into practical, constructible solutions. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. 15+ years of combined experience in Electrical Engineering and Project Engineering. Strong knowledge of: Low-voltage electrical power distribution Switchgear Transformers Generators Grounding systems Cable systems Power system studies Demonstrated understanding of NEC, ANSI/NEMA, and IEEE standards. Experience using ETAP or similar power system analysis software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and project management capabilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality. Preferred Qualifications Experience with power, control, and utility systems. Experience developing and reviewing one-line diagrams and electrical system layouts. Background supporting projects through construction, commissioning, and startup phases. Experience with: Medium-voltage power distribution Distributed generation Microgrids Mission-critical power systems Utility infrastructure projects Proficiency with AutoCAD drafting and design tools. Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite and engineering document management tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
