ZeroOne

🇮🇪Ireland🏢Hybrid📁Engineering & Development
Is this job info correct?

About the role

This is a key role within our Dublin Core Team, acting as a technical pillar for our electrical design delivery. You will report to the Associate Engineer and work directly with the founding Electrical Director, offering you unrivalled mentorship and a genuine influence on project direction.

You will be a hands-on engineer, taking ownership of the design and delivery of complex electrical power systems for a wide range of data centre projects. Our portfolio includes fast-paced data hall fit-outs, complex refurbishments, and large-scale new builds for colocation and hyperscale clients.

This role is perfect for a technically-driven engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and wants to take a significant step in their career. You will not just be a number; you will be a foundational member of the team, helping to mentor our Intermediate and Graduate engineers and shaping the technical standards of a new, ambitious consultancy.

Location

Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid)

Reports to: Associate Electrical Engineer / Electrical Director.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Delivery

  • Produce and lead the detailed design of resilient electrical systems, including MV/LV distribution, UPS systems, generator backup, earthing & bonding, and ELV systems.

Technical Production

  • Prepare and review technical specifications, calculations (including fault level, discrimination, and cable sizing using software like ETAP or Amtech), schematics (SLDs), and project reports.

Quality Assurance

  • Act as a key reviewer, checking calculations, drawings, and reports produced by junior engineers and the remote Flex Team to ensure technical excellence and compliance.

Project Management

  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of electrical packages, coordinating resource and activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget; report regularly to the Associate/Director on project performance.

M&E Coordination

  • Work proactively with the mechanical team to ensure a fully coordinated, clash-free, and efficient M&E design, upholding ZeroOne DC's One Team Culture.

Client & Contractor Liaison

  • Attend and actively participate in client, project, and site meetings, representing ZeroOne DC as a technical expert; undertake site visits to monitor installation progress against the design specification.

Mentorship

  • Provide technical guidance, training, and day-to-day coaching to Intermediate and Graduate engineers, playing a key role in their professional development.

About You

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in an electrical engineering design role, ideally within a consultancy environment.
  • Qualifications: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven technical competence in designing complex electrical systems (MV/LV, UPS, generators). Direct data centre experience is a significant advantage, but strong candidates from other high-tech, industrial, or critical environments will be considered.
  • Chartership: Actively working towards, or having already achieved, Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the IET, Engineers Ireland, or equivalent.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with electrical design/calculation software (e.g., ETAP, Amtech/Simaris) and lighting design software (e.g., Dialux/Relux) is essential.
  • Standards: A strong understanding of CIBSE, BS 7671, IS, and relevant EN standards.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage your own workload and that of others in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the European Union and be able to provide evidence of their work authorization if requested.

Preferred Certifications

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the IET, Engineers Ireland, or equivalent, or actively working towards.

Preferred

  • Experience working on projects across the EMEA region.
  • Site-based experience, including witnessing commissioning (Cx).
  • Familiarity with EPMS, BMS, and control systems.

Remuneration

Remuneration will be competitive and will be set in line with the successful candidate's level of experience, reflecting current market benchmarks for specialist data centre engineering talent in Europe.

Package & Benefits

  • Competitive salary, reflective of experience and market benchmarks
  • Pension contribution
  • Hybrid working model
  • Direct mentorship from founding Directors
  • Structured support toward relevant professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland / CIBSE)
  • Travel and expenses covered for client-site visits across Europe
