Senior Engineer | Backend, AI & Harness Engineering

Role Intro

This is an Australian AI-native product business with a fully remote team across Australia. The company builds an agent harness and platform for deploying AI into real business workflows. The engineering team is small and senior, with a strong focus on sound architecture and platform engineering fundamentals.

About You

You are a senior or staff engineer who enjoys complex problem solving. You naturally think in abstractions, building extensible code and reusable platform capability with future use cases in mind. You have seen more than one way to build systems and can explain trade-offs clearly.

You are comfortable using AI coding tools, actively experiment with different workflows and have opinions on how they should be used. You still bring the judgement needed to question outputs, review design decisions and keep production systems secure and maintainable.

Required Skills

• Strong TypeScript experience, with backend-heavy product or platform engineering depth.
• Strong architecture judgement across scalability, security, maintainability and trade-offs.
• Platform mindset: able to build once, abstract well and reuse across multiple use cases.
• Comfortable working with AWS, Terraform, CI/CD and modern engineering practices.
• Use of coding agents or AI-assisted development.

Nice to Have

• Experience building AI, agentic, workflow automation or integration-heavy products.
• Exposure to enterprise SaaS, multi-tenant systems, voice AI or customer operations platforms.
• Comfortable explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders when needed.

Benefits

• $160,000 to $180,000 base + super + ESOP.
• Fully remote, work from anywhere across Australia (full AU working rights equired.)
