What you’ll be doing...

We don’t wait for the future. We build it. We are seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Network Performance Engineer with deep expertise in Ericsson RAN software and hardware to lead performance management and optimization across our Radio Access Network. In this role, you will be responsible for driving end-to-end user experience, capacity, and accessibility across Verizon's LTE, VoLTE, 5G-NR (NSA & SA architectures), and Voice over NR (VoNR) deployments. You will utilize Ericsson Management System tools (ENM, MOShell/AMOS), diagnostic traces, and PM counters to deliver top-tier network quality and service reliability.

  • Ericsson RAN Optimization & Performance Management: Lead radio tuning and optimization across Ericsson Baseband and Radio Units (including Massive MIMO, C-Band, and mmWave deployments) for LTE, 5G-NR (NSA & SA), VoLTE, and VoNR services.
  • PM Counter Analysis & KPI Troubleshooting: Monitor and optimize key Ericsson Performance Management (PM) counters to drive improvements in Accessibility, Retainability, Mobility, and Throughput KPIs.
  • Ericsson Feature Verification & Parameter Audit: Parameterize and audit Ericsson feature states and system constants across spectrum layers. Validate features like Carrier Aggregation, Massive MIMO, EN-DC, and Dual Connectivity.
  • VoLTE & VoNR Quality Optimization: Analyze end-to-end voice quality using Ericsson UE Trace/Cell Trace data and external probes. Troubleshoot SIP signaling, RTP packet loss, jitter, MOS scores, and EPS Fallback (EPSFB) performance.
  • Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) Optimization: Monitor and optimize key performance indicators for 5G FWA CPEs on Mid-Band (C-Band) and High-Band (mmWave).

  • CLI & Scripting Operations: Leverage Ericsson CLI tools (MOShell/AMOS/ENM) to execute health checks, check cell operational states , and run automated parameter audit/turnup scripts.

  • Capacity & Traffic Engineering: Identify high-utilization sectors and cell-edge bottlenecks using Ericsson counter data; formulate carrier addition, power control, re-sectoring, or hardware upgrade strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with RF Planning, Operations, and Core teams to resolve complex cross-domain issues.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Ericsson Network Manager (ENM), MOShell/AMOS, and ENM scripting utilities for bulk parameter changes and MO configuration.
  • Proficiency in 3GPP Rel 15/16/17 architectures, beam management, Massive MIMO, SSB/CSI-RS configuration, EN-DC anchor relations, and 5G-SA/VoNR layer management.
  • Hands-on experience decoding call traces (GPEH/UETR), diagnostic logs (QXDM, TEMS Investigation, Actix Analyzer, Wireshark), and analyzing VoLTE/VoNR SIP call flows.
  • Ability to parse large counter datasets and trace logs using SQL, Python, or visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of dedicated hands-on experience in RF engineering and network performance optimization, with a minimum of 3+ years directly working on Ericsson LTE/5G RAN equipment.
  • Experience with 3rd-party benchmarking analysis (RootMetrics, Ookla, Tutela).
  • Advanced scripting proficiency (Python, Perl, Shell) for automating MOShell tasks, parameter audits, and KPI reporting.
  • Experience with Ericsson Open RAN (O-RAN) solutions, RIC, and rApp/xApp performance integrations.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
