Senior Engineering Manager — Professional Services

At Yomly, we build HR and payroll technology for enterprise customers across the Gulf and beyond. When payroll has to land accurately and on time, our platform is what makes that happen.

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering side of our Professional Services team: the people who turn a signed contract into a live, correct payroll solution.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role, not a delivery-manager role. You will inherit a team supporting live customer implementations and help it evolve into a high-performing engineering function: raising standards, improving delivery predictability, and reducing the need for one-off customer customisations by turning repeated needs into stronger product capabilities.

You will report to the Engineering Director and work closely with Project Management, Product, Sales, Customer Success and core Engineering.

What you’ll do

• Lead, coach and develop implementation engineers; establish clear expectations, 1:1s, planning, reviews, retrospectives and performance conversations.
• Own the engineering side of concurrent customer implementations through go-live, with first-payrun accuracy as the bar.
• Bring stronger planning, scoping, estimation and technical risk management to delivery.
• Ensure no bespoke engineering commitment or technically dependent go-live date is agreed without appropriate engineering review.
• Stay technically close: review code, debug complex issues, contribute to architecture discussions, and guide the customisation and integrations stack.
• Build a disciplined fit-gap approach: configure, standard product gap, or bespoke build.
• Identify recurring bespoke work and build the case for turning it into scalable platform features.
• Partner confidently with customers and internal commercial teams when delivery or technical decisions need clear direction.
• Set strong practices around source control, testing, documentation, observability, data protection and tenant security.

What we’re looking for

• Experience managing and developing software engineers, with evidence of raising a team’s engineering standard.
• A strong hands-on senior/lead engineering background; comfortable reviewing code, debugging production issues and challenging architectural decisions.
• Practical fluency in JavaScript, Python and SQL.
• Strong engineering project-management capability across multiple concurrent workstreams: planning, sequencing, estimation and delivery risk.
• Product judgement: you can distinguish a genuine customer need from a one-off request, spot patterns, and make a case for a scalable solution.
• The confidence to influence teams you do not directly manage and push back constructively when scope, timelines or commitments are unsafe.
• Customer-facing technical credibility and clear communication.
• Experience embedding secure data-handling practices into engineering delivery.

It would be particularly valuable if you have

• B2B SaaS implementation, professional services or customer-facing delivery experience.
• HR, payroll or multi-country payroll exposure.
• Experience with workflow/business-process automation.
• Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2, PDPL or GDPR.

This role will suit someone who enjoys building the operating model as well as leading within it. You will need to balance delivery for customers already in flight with the longer-term work of making each implementation more scalable than the last.

This is a 100% remote role. You should be comfortable leading and collaborating with a distributed team while working standard Eastern European hours.
