Senior Engineering Manager

About the Role

Lead an engineering pod of approximately 6 to 8 engineers at an AI-enabled mortgage fintech company. You will guide the team's people, delivery, and technical direction while staying hands-on and partnering closely with Product Managers and Technical Leads.

What You'll Do

• Manage and support a team of engineers through regular 1:1s, continuous feedback, performance reviews, hiring, and career development.

• Own the pod's planning, retrospectives, delivery health, and early identification of project risks.

• Spend approximately 10 to 20 percent of your time coding, contributing regularly to production work.

• Partner with Product Managers and Technical Leads on prioritization, architecture decisions, and cross-functional alignment.

• Help onboard engineers and maintain clear documentation and ownership boundaries.

What We're Looking For

• At least 8 years of engineering experience and demonstrated people management experience with 5 or more engineers, including performance management and hiring.

• Hands-on TypeScript experience and the ability to contribute directly to a TypeScript codebase.

• Experience with technologies such as React, Node.js, Express, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, and Terraform.

• Experience in fintech, lending, mortgages, or a similarly relevant domain, with familiarity with AI-enabled engineering workflows.

• Startup or small-company experience and a progressive engineering career. Founder or co-founder experience is also required.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $225,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available.
