Senior Engineering Manager

About the Role

Lead an engineering pod building software for mortgage loan origination in the fintech sector. You will own the pod's team health, execution, and technical direction while working closely with Product Managers and Technical Leads. This is a hands-on management role, with time set aside to contribute code and stay connected to the team's engineering work.

What You'll Do

• Manage a pod of approximately 6 to 8 engineers, including regular one-on-ones, feedback, performance reviews, hiring, and career development.

• Set and maintain the pod's execution cadence through planning, retrospectives, delivery health reviews, and early risk escalation.

• Contribute code regularly, targeting approximately 1 to 2 pull requests per week.

• Partner with Product Managers and Technical Leads on priorities, architecture decisions, and cross-functional alignment.

• Support effective onboarding and maintain clear documentation and ownership boundaries.

What We're Looking For

• At least 8 years of engineering experience, including direct people management of 5 or more engineers.

• Experience with hiring, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and other core management responsibilities.

• Strong hands-on TypeScript experience and the ability to contribute to production code.

• Experience with a modern web and cloud stack, including React, Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tools.

• A progressive engineering career path, an AI-forward approach to engineering workflows, and experience in a startup or smaller company environment.

• Experience in fintech or mortgage technology is relevant to the domain.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $225,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available. Equity and other benefits were not specified.
