Senior Engineering Manager

About the Role

Lead an engineering pod building AI-enabled software for mortgage lending. You will guide the team's people, delivery, and technical direction while staying hands-on with production code and partnering closely with Product and technical leads.

What You'll Do

• Manage and support an engineering team through regular one-on-ones, continuous feedback, performance reviews, hiring, and career development.

• Own the team's planning, retrospectives, delivery health, and early identification of project risks.

• Spend approximately 10 to 20 percent of your time coding, contributing roughly one or two pull requests per week.

• Partner with Product and technical leads on priorities, architecture decisions, and cross-functional coordination.

• Support effective onboarding and maintain clear documentation and ownership boundaries.

What We're Looking For

• 8 or more years of software engineering and/or engineering management experience, with a progressive path from individual contributor work into management.

• Demonstrated people management experience leading a pod of at least five engineers, including hiring and performance management; experience managing teams of 9 to 10 is relevant.

• Recent experience shipping production software and actively coding in an engineering management role.

• Strong hands-on TypeScript skills and significant backend engineering experience. The stack includes TypeScript, Node.js, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Docker.

• Experience using AI tools in engineering workflows and familiarity with AI product development practices such as evaluation, experiment design, and dataset curation.

• Comfort working in a startup or small-company environment and navigating complex, high-stakes financial technology products.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $225,000 to $300,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available.
