Sr Nuclear Engineering Technologist

Job Summary

This is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the Career level for the job hierarchy. Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
  • Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies.
  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Coaches and mentors other Nuclear Engineering Technologists

Basic Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Engineering Technology
  • 6 years minimum required related work experience
  • In lieu of degree, High School / GED and 8 years minimum required related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and working knowledge of Air Operated Valves, evaluation of diagnostic data, and providing recommendations for valve maintenance strategies.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Motor Operated Valves, evaluation of diagnostic data, and providing recommendations for valve maintenance strategies.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Instrumentation and Controls Engineering, evaluation of diagnostic data, and providing recommendations for I&C maintenance strategies.
  • Performance Expectations: "Fully Meets Expectations" or better in final 2 APA ratings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in the nuclear utility industry.
  • Proficient in applying principles of project management.

  • Some business units may require visits to field sites and/or plants
