Senior Accountant - Group Reporting & Consolidation

Sydney CBD | Hybrid | $130k–$135k base + super + discretionary bonus

The business

Our client is a Sydney-headquartered group of engineering and technology businesses. They manufacture products and deliver projects for government, agricultural and corporate customers, both here and overseas. The group has grown through acquisition and is investing in its systems and finance function.

The role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller and working closely with the CFO, you'll own group reporting in a small, hands-on corporate finance team. You'll:

• Run the monthly group consolidation, intercompany eliminations and consolidated financial statements
• Maintain the chart of accounts, account mappings and reporting structures across the group
• Oversee month-end close and review balance sheet reconciliations
• Support the audit, statutory accounts and lender reporting
• Coordinate BAS, payroll tax, FBT and income tax provisions with external advisers
• Bring Finance input to ERP and process improvement projects, and help integrate acquired businesses
• Guide and develop two junior accountants

The top 3 things you'll need

1. Group consolidation experience. You've owned or prepared multi-entity consolidations, intercompany eliminations and group reporting, and you're CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent).
2. Manufacturing or project accounting know-how. You're comfortable with inventory, WIP, bills of materials and warranty provisions, and with working alongside engineers and operations teams.
3. A hands-on, coaching style. You're happy doing the detailed work yourself and can teach junior accountants the technical concepts along the way.

You'll also bring

• Strong month-end, reconciliation and statutory reporting skills
• Confidence working with tax advisers and auditors
• Advanced Excel and experience with ERP systems
• Good judgement and attention to detail
