Senior Financial Analyst, Infrastructure

We're looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Infrastructure Finance team, owning the financials of Shopify's infrastructure software space as well as data management behind infrastructure finance generally. You'll partner with R&D, Data, and Product on financial planning, investment decisions, and business cases and help tell that story to senior leaders across Shopify. Beyond software, you'll manage the data and tooling that span the full infrastructure portfolio — hosting, hardware, software, AI — keeping information accurate and available to support forecasting, close, and other reporting and analytical processes. We are constantly striving for efficiency in how we work. Using Shopify's suite of AI and data tools, this role will lead efforts to reduce time to completion for existing workflows and will help us build out the next generation of financial reporting deliverables as we look to provide new insights to decision-makers.

You'll be doing things like:

• Partner with R&D and Product to understand Shopify's infra software needs, priorities, and value — and bring financial rigour to their decisions

• Own forecasting and reporting cycles for the software space, including monthly variance analysis and operating reviews

• Build management reporting across all of infrastructure — new views, dashboards, and sites that tell the infra finance investment story

• Manage the data and systems behind that reporting so financial information is current and accurate

• Track cost drivers and unit economics, driving value-oriented spend management

• Surface new insights and build financial models that inform business decisions

• Surface risks and opportunities in the software investment space to decision-makers, clearly and early

• Use SQL, Python, and emerging AI tools to automate manual work and improve how FP&A operates

What you bring to the team:

• Proven track record of driving significant impact in complex and ambiguous business situations

• R&D finance background working with engineering teams on general FP&A activities

• Strong communication skills–ability to distill complex, technical topics into concise, understandable terms

• Significant experience in financial modeling and strategic business planning

• Strong understanding of SQL and Python, with the ability to write complex queries, perform data extraction and manipulation, and maintain data integrity.

• Genuine enthusiasm for the R&D space, tinkering with new tools, and exploring innovative solutions

• A growth mindset, a builder’s mentality and a proven history of effective execution

• The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous work environment and to navigate through change

• Track record of strong performance in data science, management consulting, investment banking, FP&A, or a related field

• Experience in tech, fintech or other SaaS-based business models

• Demonstrated experience transforming or automating FP&A processes
