Show job description

Indio builds its own AI and large-scale data products for the energy industry. We don't take on client work: our engineers build Indio's products, working directly with our stakeholders and alongside our data science team, and what we build goes to production. Our core algorithms are written in Rust. Parts of our work are confidential; we share more in interviews.

We keep the team small and the bar very high. If you're the engineer other engineers go to, we'd like to hear from you.

Remote from Pakistan · Full-time

  • Hours: 8 AM–4 PM US Central, Monday to Friday (6 PM–2 AM Pakistan time, or 7 PM–3 AM from November to mid-March)
  • Pay: in USD or your preferred currency, through Remote.com
  • Competitive compensation

The role

You'll lead the frontend of our data-heavy applications: huge tables, interactive charts, graph views and real-time updates that still feel instant. You'll set the standard for our component library and work directly with the people who use our products, and with the data science team, to turn complex analysis into interfaces people trust.

What you'll do

  • Build complex, high-performance interfaces: large grids, time-series charts, and graph and map visualizations
  • Lead frontend architecture: rendering boundaries, data fetching and caching, state, forms and validation
  • Grow our design system, with accessibility built in
  • Keep quality high with component and end-to-end tests

How we build

  • Typed end to end, from the data model to the interface
  • Interfaces designed for large, dense data, and kept fast as it grows
  • Accessible and responsive by default
  • Tests, reviews and documentation as part of the work, not an afterthought

Required

  • 6+ years shipping production web apps, with deep frontend experience
  • Expert TypeScript and React, including server and client components and data fetching
  • You've built data-dense interfaces (large tables, charts, complex forms) and kept them fast
  • Strong CSS and layout; responsive and accessible by default
  • Component and end-to-end tests as a habit
  • Comfortable shaping APIs with backend engineers, including real-time data
  • Clear written communication in English

Big plus: Rust or WebAssembly

Experience with either. Our core algorithms are in Rust.

Strongly preferred

  • Data grids and charting at scale, with advanced chart interactions
  • Graph interfaces: trees, canvases and node editors
  • Maps and geospatial interfaces, document viewers and rich-text editing
  • Real-time interfaces
  • Design-system and motion work

How to apply

Apply with your resume and a GitHub or portfolio link (show us something you built). If we move forward, we'll ask for a short note on the hardest UI performance or complexity problem you've solved.
