About the Role

BlueOcean Tech Services is recruiting a Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Front-End Focus) to support an international AI technology client. You will work with a fast-moving product team building and scaling AI-powered software for professional users.

The product is already live and is preparing for significant expansion, so we're looking for people who can take ownership of their function, work independently and help maintain a high standard of quality and delivery as the product grows.

The Role

You will own the application attorneys actually use.

You will build faithfully to our design system, consume our published backend API contract, and hand work off cleanly to designers, product, QA and other engineers.

Our Stack

You should already be strong in most of the following:

React 19, TypeScript (strict), Vite, React Router 7, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS 4, Clerk, pnpm, Vitest, React Testing Library, MSW and Vercel.

Our backend is Python/FastAPI.

What You’ll Do

• Build production React and TypeScript features under strict typing.
• Build from design tokens and components rather than eyeballing mockups. Our CI rejects arbitrary style values and checks screens against their Figma frames.
• Generate types from the API schema and build against it. When the contract is wrong, raise the issue rather than working around it on the client side.
• Write component and integration tests for your own work.
• Make accessibility and responsive behaviour the default, not an afterthought.
• Write clear pull requests and component documentation that another engineer can pick up.
• Debug across the front-end and backend boundary.

What You Must Have

• Senior-level production React and TypeScript experience on an application with real users.
• Experience building to a design system.
• Experience working closely with product, design and QA, including handling disagreement with design decisions.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants, with a clear understanding of what you verify and what you would not trust them to do.
• Excellent written English. Most of our decisions are made in writing and asynchronously.
• Experience using Google Workspace and Jira.
• Experience working with a US or US-facing team.
• A commitment to at least 4 hours of overlap every working day with US Central Time (roughly 4 PM–9 PM WAT).
• Reliable backup power and a second internet connection. Please describe both specifically in your application.

Not a Fit

This role is not suitable for candidates whose experience is limited to:

• Portfolio projects without production application experience.
• Styling that bypasses an established design system.
• Front-end work where product and design are treated simply as sources of instructions rather than collaborators.
