Senior Fullstack Java Software Engineer - AA, Remote: Colombia - Costa Rica, Full Time

Gorilla Logic is looking for an experienced Senior Fullstack Java Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise applications, backend services, and data integration solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Apache Airflow, and relational databases, along with experience working with Java MVC architectures and frontend technologies such as Bootstrap 5, Vue.js, Angular, React, or similar frameworks. In this role, you will work across the full application stack, supporting both modern and legacy systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain fullstack enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and frontend technologies.
• Maintain and modernize legacy Java applications following MVC architectural patterns.
• Develop and enhance user interfaces using Bootstrap 5, Vue.js, Angular, React, or similar technologies.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services.
• Configure and maintain Apache Airflow environments, developing DAGs and integrations using operators to orchestrate data processing workflows.
• Design and implement ETL workflows and data integrations across enterprise systems.
• Work with PostgreSQL and other relational databases to support application functionality and data processing.
• Implement communication between services using RabbitMQ or similar messaging technologies.
• Integrate applications with enterprise systems, billing platforms, and external services.
• Participate in architectural discussions, code reviews, testing, and deployment activities.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including fullstack development with Java.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 9, 11, or 17.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, preferably versions 3.5 or 4.x.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow, including configuring environments from scratch, developing DAGs, and implementing integrations using operators.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, SQL, and relational database design.
• Experience maintaining or developing legacy Java applications using MVC architecture.
• Frontend development experience with Bootstrap 5, Vue.js, Angular, React, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and inter-service communication using RabbitMQ or similar messaging technologies.
• Basic understanding of ETL processes, data pipelines, and system integrations.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or similar solutions.
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, clean code, and development best practices.
• Experience with Git, Agile methodologies, and distributed development teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and technical ownership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python for scripting, automation, or data processing.
• Experience with Zuora or similar subscription management and billing platforms.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, invoicing, and enterprise billing processes.
• Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehousing solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL).
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with Docker and Testcontainers.
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience modernizing legacy enterprise applications.
