The Role

As a Senior Geospatial Consultant, you will play a key role in helping UK Government and public sector organisations unlock the value of their geospatial data to drive better decision-making, improve operational outcomes, and support large-scale transformation programmes.

Working at the intersection of business consultancy, geospatial technology, and data strategy, you will collaborate with customers to understand complex challenges, identify opportunities for improvement, and design practical, data-driven solutions. You will support projects throughout the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through to implementation and adoption, ensuring geospatial capabilities deliver measurable business value.

This is a highly collaborative and customer-facing role where you'll engage with senior stakeholders, business users, and delivery teams to shape requirements, influence strategy, and provide trusted advice. You'll work alongside solution architects, data engineers, GIS specialists, software developers, and technical delivery teams, translating business needs into effective geospatial and data solutions.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of initiatives, including geospatial strategy development, data governance and information management programmes, enterprise GIS platform implementations, and organisation-wide digital transformation projects. Whether helping define future geospatial capabilities or supporting the delivery of innovative solutions, you will play a central role in enabling customers to make better use of location intelligence and geospatial data.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on consultancy, building strong client relationships, and making a meaningful impact through the application of geospatial technologies and data-led innovation.

Responsibilities

• Building strong relationships with stakeholders across government departments, agencies, and public sector organisations, acting as a trusted advisor on geospatial and data-related challenges.
• Leading workshops, discovery activities, and requirements gathering sessions to understand business needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Translating complex business problems into practical geospatial, data, and information management solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.
• Developing business cases, strategic roadmaps, target operating models, and implementation plans to support organisational transformation.
• Providing consultancy and advisory services across geospatial strategy, data governance, information management, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Communicating complex technical concepts in a clear and engaging way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Supporting programme and project delivery through effective governance, assurance, stakeholder engagement, and risk management activities.
• Designing and implementing robust geospatial data management and information architecture solutions.
• Supporting the procurement, integration, migration, and adoption of geospatial platforms and technologies.
• Defining and promoting best practices for metadata management, data quality, information governance, and data lifecycle management.
• Developing and reviewing data models, technical specifications, solution designs, and integration approaches.
• Supporting the implementation of GIS platforms, data services, APIs, and cloud-based geospatial solutions.
• Conducting geospatial data analysis, data transformation, and quality assessment activities to support customer objectives.
• Providing specialist expertise in spatial databases, geospatial standards, interoperability, and enterprise geospatial architectures.
• Collaborating with architects, data engineers, GIS specialists, software developers, and delivery teams to ensure solutions are aligned to both business and technical requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

We're looking for a client-focused consultant who can combine strong stakeholder engagement, business analysis, and geospatial expertise to help organisations solve complex challenges and deliver meaningful outcomes.

You'll bring experience in:

• Business analysis, requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Building trusted client relationships and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Developing business cases, strategic recommendations, and transformation roadmaps.
• Data governance, information management, change delivery, and operating model design.
• Supporting programmes and projects within structured governance frameworks, ideally within the UK public sector.

Technical expertise should include experience with:

• ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, FME, GeoServer, or equivalent GIS platforms.
• Geospatial data management, metadata standards, data quality, and governance frameworks.
• Spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, or Oracle Spatial.
• APIs, data integration, ETL processes, and cloud-based geospatial solutions.
• Open standards, interoperability, and modern deployment approaches.

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the nature of our work, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.

Location

This role offers flexible and remote working, with travel to our Horsham office approximately two days per month.
