Senior Go Engineer

Mondoo is creating a new way that helps companies keep their users and data safe from hackers around the world. Your impact You will have a direct impact on the Mondoo Platform including our policy engine, resources, scale, and multi-region functionality. You will be building software that helps teams to assess, scope, prioritize, triage and remediate security findings. Key responsibilities We're seeking a skilled Go (Golang) Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable backend systems using microservices architecture, as well as creating robust command-line interface (CLI) applications. Design and implement efficient, scalable backend services using Go Develop and maintain microservices-based architectures Create and enhance command-line interface (CLI) applications for terminal use Design and implement APIs using Protocol Buffers and GraphQL for efficient inter-service communication Integrate with Claude to help you accomplish all the work you need to do Participate actively in designing features in a performant, scalable way, consulting with your colleagues and making informed decisions Follow feature rollout procedures to ensure safe rollout Create grafana dashboards and alerts to monitor the features you’ve rolled out Optimize existing codebases for improved performance and reliability Implement systems for load balancing, fault tolerance, and scalability Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services with frontend applications and CLI tools Develop robust error handling, logging, and monitoring solutions Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices and coding standards Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments Be clear about your working hours so we know when we can reach you Represent Mondoo at community events as preferred The numbers: on average, we’re merging ~200 PRs per week, releasing ~15 times a week . We’re a small team, so that averages out to somewhere between 7 to 20-something prs per week, per person. Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field 5+ years of professional experience in backend development using Go Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems Experience in developing command-line interface (CLI) applications Proficiency in Protocol Buffers and GraphQL API design and implementation Experience with SQL Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Solid understanding of version control systems (preferably Git) Strong written and communication skills with proven fluency in English Excellent ability to articulate complex technical concepts and participate effectively in the feature design process Preferred qualifications Experience with event-driven architectures Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices Experience with gRPC Contributions to open-source Go projects Experience with cross-platform development for CLI applications Previous experience participating in or leading RFC processes
