Odoo is looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join our People team and partner closely with leaders across the business.

This is a hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day work from home on Fridays) role in Brisbane, CA. About the Job

Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) – Brisbane, CA

As a Senior HR Business Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor to hiring managers and senior leaders, helping them build strong teams, navigate complex people challenges, and make thoughtful decisions as the organization continues to grow. You’ll own key areas including employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, talent development, manager coaching, employment-based immigration, and employee mobility.

We’re looking for someone who can balance strategic partnership with hands-on execution, confidently challenge leaders when needed, and bring a practical, business-minded approach to HR. You’ll be comfortable navigating complex employee and immigration matters while identifying opportunities to strengthen our people practices as Odoo continues to scale.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers and senior leaders on people strategy, organizational needs, and team development

  • Coach managers on performance management, employee development, leadership, and difficult conversations

  • Manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, performance concerns, corrective actions, and terminations

  • Advise leaders through organizational changes, restructures, contingency planning and team transitions

  • Lead HR programs and process improvements that enhance the manager and employee experience.

  • Facilitate employee mobility, career and regional, by participating and proactively executing on relevant tasks and conversations.

  • Ensure HR and immigration practices comply with California and federal requirements.

  • Partner with the Immigration Specialist and external counsel on employee relations, work authorization, global mobility, and employment-based visa matters, including H-1B, H-1B1, TN, E-2, and L-1 cases.

  • Provide backup immigration support and advise employees and leaders within legal, compliance, and internal policy guidelines.

  • Proactively identify people-related and immigration risks, including potential gaps in employment authorization, translate legal guidance into practical solutions, and escalate concerns appropriately.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience as an HR Business Partner

  • Experience partnering directly with senior leaders and people managers

  • Previous experience in an immigration law firm, legal ops team, HR administration, or similar role

  • Strong employee relations and performance management experience

  • Knowledge of California and federal employment laws

  • Strong coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to navigate complex or sensitive employee situations with sound judgment and discretion

  • Comfortable challenging and influencing leaders at different levels of the organization

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong business acumen and an understanding of how people decisions impact business performance

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations

  • Experience with a wide range of employment-based visas (e.g., H-1B, H-1B1, TN, E-3, E-2, L-1)


Nice to Have

  • Experience in a high-growth technology, SaaS, or similarly fast-paced environment

  • Experience supporting Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, or other business functions

  • Experience with organizational design and workforce planning

  • Experience using HR metrics and data to guide decisions

  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar certification

  • Conversational Spanish a plus

The estimated annual compensation range for this role is $120-140K. Please note that actual salaries may vary within, above, or below this range based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location.
