Senior Hybrid QA Engineer (Path to QA Lead)

About the Role & Opportunity

Are you a pragmatist, hands-on Senior QA Engineer who understands that true quality assurance starts with a deep understanding of complex business logic?

We are a high-growth scale-up developing complex, high-throughput B2B SaaS applications. We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to take complete ownership of quality across our product suite. This is a key strategic role designed to transition into Head of QA, where you will build, mentor, and lead a team of 3 QA Engineers across our group applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Ownership: Take full QA ownership starting from our core application, systematically scaling up to cover all 8 applications in our product ecosystem.
• Hands-on Quality Assurance: Execute detailed manual and functional testing, ensuring end-to-end reliability, seamless user flows, and system stability for heavy enterprise workflows.
• Pragmatic Automation Strategy: Progressively introduce and drive Test Automation initiatives at a realistic pace, choosing the right frameworks to complement existing manual coverage.
• Leadership Roadmap: Step up to define group-wide QA standards, build testing frameworks, and mentor a team of 3 QA Engineers as the QA Lead.
• High-Level Reporting: Collaborate closely and report directly to the Engineering Manager and CTO.

• Embraces Manual QA as the Foundation: Recognizes that thorough, expert manual testing is essential for understanding deep product workflows before automating them.
• Has a Pragmatic Automation Mindset: Understands that moving to automation is a strategic, step-by-step evolution—not a Day 1 requirement. You appreciate the business context and won't get frustrated by necessary hands-on manual testing while we lay the groundwork.
• Thrives in Fast-Paced Environments: Brings dynamic, product-focused QA experience (rather than rigid, slow-moving corporate or legacy banking methodologies).
• Balances Innovation with Business Stability: Welcomes autonomy and experimentation with new technologies, while respecting operational continuity.

What We Are Looking For

• 7+ years of hands-on QA experience in modern product-driven / SaaS environments.
• Hybrid Skillset with Manual Priority: Expert-level Manual Testing skills, combined with practical knowledge of Automation concepts and API testing (Postman; Swagger/OpenAPI is a plus).
• Technical Foundations: Comfortable with database concepts (SQL) and basic DevOps/CI-CD environments.
• Automation Familiarity: Working knowledge or experience with modern frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium). Ability to guide tech stack decisions for future automation (our core applications use .NET, but you have flexibility in automation tools).
• Leadership & Communication: Outstanding communication skills suited for direct C-level alignment. Prior experience leading or mentoring QA engineers is a strong plus.
