Come join a growing financial technology company that’s leading the marketplace in both the marketing and servicing of credit cards! Continental Finance Company specializes in credit card options for those consumers with less than perfect credit. We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Support Specialist II to join our Technology Team.
This role supports our infrastructure across two focus areas: networking and operating systems. This posting is for the Networking track: keeping our routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and VPN connections secure and reliable, along with foundational AWS networking constructs (NACLs, security groups, and AWS-native firewall). A foundational understanding of AWS is expected; deeper AWS certification is a plus, not a requirement. This role also carries an on-call rotation, which occasionally includes basic OS-level troubleshooting — while systems administration is not the primary focus of this track, some working OS support ability is expected. This role is also a natural next step for team members growing up from our Infrastructure Support I position.
CFC offers a hybrid work schedule which includes three (3) core days in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two (2) remote workdays (Monday and Friday)
This position participates in an on-call rotation.
Essential Functions:
- Install, configure, and maintain on-premises networking hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points (e.g., Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Meraki, FortiGate, Palo Alto, and Ubiquiti).
- Configure and maintain site-to-site and client VPN connections, including SSL VPN and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) for individual remote access.
- Design network and subnet layouts with an eye toward capacity planning and future growth.
- Maintain FTP/SFTP services and associated user accounts, including provisioning, permissions, and periodic access review.
- Support certificate management for network equipment (e.g., firewalls, VPN concentrators) in coordination with the OS Support track.
- Manage foundational AWS networking constructs — NACLs, security groups, and AWS-native firewall services — to enforce traffic control policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network connectivity, performance, and routing issues across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Monitor network health and performance using existing monitoring and alerting tooling, including SNMP-based device monitoring, escalating and resolving anomalies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to network outages and connectivity issues outside business hours — including basic OS-level troubleshooting in coordination with the OS Support track when needed.
- Maintain network documentation (topology diagrams, configuration records, runbooks) and identify opportunities to improve operational awareness and efficiency.
- Participate in audits and security reviews, providing required IT documentation and information.
- Support configuration management, change control, and documentation standards, and drive adoption of continuous improvements in accordance with the ITIL framework.
- Participate in network upgrades, migrations, and technology implementation projects.
- Perform regular and routine maintenance activities in accordance with compliance and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; BA or BS degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the Information Technology industry.
- Hands-on experience configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points in a multi-vendor enterprise environment (e.g., Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Meraki, FortiGate, Palo Alto, Ubiquiti).
- Experience configuring and maintaining site-to-site and client VPN connections, including SSL VPN and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions.
- Experience with network and subnet design for capacity planning and scalable growth.
- Experience maintaining FTP/SFTP services and associated user accounts.
- Familiarity with certificate management as it applies to network equipment (e.g., firewall or VPN certificates) is a plus.
- Understanding of SNMP for network device monitoring.
- Working knowledge of foundational AWS networking — VPC, NACLs, security groups, and AWS-native firewall services.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, and structured network troubleshooting.
- Foundational understanding of AWS; AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner is a plus, not required.
- Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Comfortable with basic OS-level troubleshooting (Windows/Linux) to support on-call escalations; deep systems administration expertise is not required for this track.
- Networking certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) are a plus.
- Familiarity with IT governance and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and in a demanding environment.
- Familiarity with the principles and practice of configuration management and change control.
- The position requires minimal travel; occasional travel may include overnight stays depending on company needs.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and sit for prolonged periods of time.
