Senior Insights Analyst

• Tableau Development & Ownership: Serve as the team’s Tableau expert architect, build, and maintain sophisticated, high-performance dashboards and workbooks. Design efficient data sources and extracts, apply advanced calculations (LODs, table calculations, parameters), tune performance, and set standards for design, governance, and publishing on Tableau Server/Cloud.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Conduct advanced analyses using SQL, Snowflake, and Tableau to uncover trends, surface root causes, and deliver recommendations that shape institutional strategy moving beyond descriptive reporting to answer the “why” and “what next.”
• Data Modeling & Engineering: Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL against a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake), and build reusable, well-structured data models that power reliable, self-service reporting.
• Visualization & Storytelling: Craft compelling, decision-ready data stories for both technical teams and senior leadership. Establish baselines, define and monitor key metrics, and ensure insights land with the audience that needs them.
• Collaboration & Customer Engagement: Partner with internal and external customers across finance, marketing, admissions, and academics to scope, prioritize, and deliver analyses that advance institutional effectiveness and student success.
• Mentorship & Team Leadership: Mentor junior analysts, share knowledge, and help set the direction and best practices of the analytics function.
• Process Optimization: Champion efficient, scalable data processes and tooling that deliver insights in a timely, cost-effective, and repeatable way.

• Tableau (Expert): Deep, hands-on expertise developing in Tableau Desktop and publishing to Tableau Server or Cloud, including data source design, performance tuning, advanced calculations, and dashboard interactivity.
• Programming & Query Languages: Advanced proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex queries for analysis and validation; working proficiency in Python for analysis and automation preferred.
• Cloud Data Warehousing: Strong hands-on experience with a cloud data platform such as Snowflake (preferred), AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Data Modeling: Solid understanding of data preparation, transformation, processing, and modeling techniques that support trustworthy, reusable reporting.

• Technical Development: Proven ability to build production-grade visualizations and data models within a cloud environment, with an eye for performance and maintainability.
• Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex data and analytical problems and apply data-driven solutions to optimize institutional functions.
• Communication & Influence: Excellent communication skills, with a track record of presenting insights persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
• Project & Priority Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines with limited oversight.

• Data-Driven Insight: Ability to translate complex data findings into understandable and actionable insights that support university goals.
• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across departments to align data insights with institutional objectives.
• Mentorship: Ability to elevate the work of the broader team by sharing knowledge, setting standards, and coaching less-experienced analysts.
• Efficiency: Ensure queries, models, and visualizations are efficient, cost-effective, and deliver insights promptly.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics) or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in data analysis or a related role, with demonstrated depth in Tableau development. Hands-on experience working with marketing, admissions, enrollment, finance, or academic data is a plus.
• Software & Tools: Tableau (required), SQL, Snowflake, Python, and cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
