About IPG
International Protection Group (IPG) is a boutique insurance agency in Singapore. We advise international professionals, expat families and SMEs on international health insurance, employee benefits and specialist business risks. We are boutique by choice: a small set of well-chosen plans, the cases other firms find too complex, and service that continues long after the policy is issued.
The role
As IPG grows, we are adding a senior person to own our client book from first enquiry to renewal, and to help grow it. You will work directly with the Director, with a clear path to Head of Client Services.
What you will do
Advisory and placement (about 45%)
• Take enquiries from first conversation to quote, recommendation and policy issue
• Prepare complete submissions and negotiate terms with insurers and specialist partners
• Advise individuals and families on international health insurance
• Support businesses on employee benefits, liability, professional indemnity, cyber and other commercial lines
• Read policy wordings, find the gaps and explain key terms before the client commits
Client service, renewals and operations (about 35%)
• Be the main contact for your clients
• Run renewals from 90 days ahead, plus endorsements, underwriting requirements and claims support
• Keep the pipeline and commission records accurate
• Improve our templates, checklists and service standards
Business development and leadership (about 20%)
• Spot what existing clients need next, because you understand their business
• Handle new prospects from first call to signed placement
• Build relationships with insurers and referral partners
• Run the weekly pipeline review and, as we grow, help train a junior colleague
What you bring
• At least 4 years in insurance, including hands-on IPMI experience in Singapore (agency, broker or insurer)
• Strong international health insurance experience, plus exposure to commercial lines or employee benefits
• Certificate in General Insurance (BCP, PGI, ComGI) and the qualifications needed for health insurance advice, or able to complete them before you start
• Clear, careful written and spoken English
• Organised and independent: you follow up without reminders and keep records right
• Interest in business development and in growing with a small firm
Nice to have: specialty lines (fine art, valuables, transit, D&O), group benefits for 20 to 200 staff, Mandarin, Spanish or another language our clients speak.
You will enjoy IPG if you
• Prefer long relationships over one-off transactions
• Like explaining complex things simply, including what is not covered
• Can negotiate with a senior underwriter in the morning and fix an admin issue in the afternoon
• Bring a solution with the problem
What we offer
• Monthly allowance plus commission on new business you place
• Remote working
• Direct involvement in client and business decisions
• Clear progression, reviewed against agreed goals at 6 and 12 months
How to apply
Apply with your CV and a short note about a case you are proud of, and why.
