Senior Integration Engineer (Workato) | Remote

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Integration Engineer (Workato) to own the design, delivery, and ongoing support of enterprise system integrations. This role focuses on building reliable, scalable, and reusable automation solutions that connect multiple platforms and support end-to-end data flow across systems.

You will work closely with implementation and engineering teams to deliver integrations for new customers, improve existing workflows, and ensure production stability across all integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Integration Development & Delivery

• Build and deploy integrations using Workato across multiple enterprise systems
• Design workflows, recipes, and data flows (API-based, event-driven, batch, near real-time)
• Implement error handling, retries, branching logic, and scalable integration patterns
• Promote and manage integrations across development, staging, and production environments

Connector & Automation Engineering

• Develop reusable connectors and integration templates for recurring use cases
• Build custom connectors when needed using Workato tools/SDK
• Define standards for integration design to ensure consistency and scalability
• Document integration logic for reuse and operational support

Monitoring & Production Support

• Monitor integration health, performance, and SLA compliance
• Troubleshoot failures and resolve production issues
• Implement alerting, logging, and proactive monitoring for all workflows
• Prevent and manage issues such as data failures, retries, or system overloads

Optimization & Improvement

• Improve the efficiency of existing integrations and reduce redundant processes
• Identify performance risks and optimize data flows
• Enhance the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of integrations

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with implementation teams to deliver customer integrations
• Translate business requirements into technical integration solutions
• Collaborate with engineering on APIs, security, and platform improvements
• Support integration-related discussions with external system providers

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in integration engineering or iPaaS platforms
• Hands-on experience with Workato or similar tools (MuleSoft, Boomi, Tray, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of APIs (REST, SOAP), webhooks, JSON/XML
• Experience with SQL and data transformation
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, SFTP, and HTTP-based integrations
• Experience building and supporting production integrations
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and incident resolution skills
• Ability to manage multiple integration projects simultaneously
• Good communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Experience

• Experience with custom connector development
• Background in SaaS integration environments
• Experience with monitoring tools and production observability
• Exposure to enterprise systems (HRIS, EHR, ERP, CRM, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD and version-controlled deployments
• Scripting experience (Ruby, Python, JavaScript)
