Senior iOS Engineer - 4-Week Contract

fmsg AI is building a messaging platform that lets people, businesses and AI agents collaborate through an open, efficient messaging protocol.

We're looking for an experienced iOS engineer to own the end-to-end delivery of our first dedicated iOS app. We're looking for someone who cares as much about the craft of the user experience as the code behind it.

What you'll do

• Build a polished native iOS app using Swift and SwiftUI, integrated with our existing fmsg platform and APIs.
• Create a beautiful, fluid and sublime UI/UX with intuitive interactions, thoughtful details, smooth animations and exceptional attention to detail.
• Own the complete release process: testing, Apple Developer setup, App Store submission and release.
• Use the latest AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.

The deliverable

A polished, fully functional iOS app published on the Apple App Store within the four-week contract.

You'll own the process from implementation through testing, submission and App Store release, including addressing review feedback. Apple approval timelines are outside the developer's direct control, so we'll establish a release plan and milestones at kickoff.

What we're looking for

• Demonstrable experience building and shipping iOS applications, ideally with a portfolio showcasing exceptional design and interaction quality.
• Strong Swift/SwiftUI skills and experience integrating APIs, authentication and messaging functionality.
• A keen eye for visual design, usability, interaction details and performance.
• A self-starter who can make sound technical decisions and deliver independently.
• Your own development hardware, tools and working environment.
• An interest in AI agents, open protocols and the future of software collaboration.

The engagement

• Duration: Four weeks, with agreed milestones.
• Rate: Indicatively A$700–900/day, depending on experience; equivalent rates in other currencies considered.
• Location: Fully remote, worldwide.
• Collaboration: One-hour Zoom meeting each weekday at an agreed time compatible with Perth, Western Australia.
• Tools: Bring your own development setup and preferred tools.
• Extension: Potential to continue, subject to funding. No extension is guaranteed.
