Senior Java Architect

Role Description The Senior Java Architect role is a full-time hybrid position based in Brussels, with flexibility for part-time work from home. In this role, the person will design and oversee the architecture of complex Java-based systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. Typical responsibilities include defining application architectures, selecting appropriate frameworks and tools, and guiding the implementation of microservices and Jakarta EE-based solutions. The Senior Java Architect will collaborate with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs, review code and design patterns, and ensure adherence to best practices and architectural standards. The role also involves mentoring development teams, conducting technical reviews, and contributing to long-term technology roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Strong Software Development skills in Java, with experience building enterprise-grade applications.
• Deep understanding of Architecture and system design, including scalability, reliability, and security considerations.
• Proficiency with Design Patterns and best practices for clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Hands-on experience with Microservices architectures, including REST APIs, containerization, and related tools.
• Practical knowledge of Jakarta EE and associated frameworks for building robust server-side applications.
• Experience leading technical teams, mentoring developers, and driving architectural decisions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices is beneficial.
• Experience working in hybrid environments and comfort with both on-site collaboration in Brussels and remote work.
