AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team is looking for an Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer - Underground Hard Rock Mining to join our team in Bangalore, Gurugram.

  • Lead mechanical engineering design packages for underground mining, materials handling and fixed-plant projects.

  • Undertake conveyor design and analysis using recognised software such as Sidewinder or Belt Analyst, including sizing, power calculations, dynamic assessment and design optimisation. Apply bulk-solids handling principles to bins, chutes, feeders, transfer stations and ore-handling systems to support reliable operation and maintainability.

  • Prepare calculations, equipment specifications, datasheets, scopes of work, technical evaluations and design reports. Lead the design and integration of crushing, screening, conveying, pumping, dewatering, dust-management and ventilation-related systems.

  • Develop practical dust-suppression, extraction and containment solutions for abrasive, high-throughput materials-handling environments. Coordinate civil, structural, electrical, process, controls, ventilation and geotechnical interfaces.

  • Lead or contribute to technical reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, constructability reviews and design verification. Support procurement, vendor engagement, tender evaluation, construction, commissioning and operational-readiness activities.

  • Mentor engineers and designers and contribute to consistent technical standards and lessons learned.

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.

  • At least 8 years' mechanical engineering experience, including significant exposure to mining, bulk materials handling or heavy industry.

  • Demonstrated capability in conveyor systems, transfer systems, fixed plant and bulk-materials handling.

  • Practical experience using at least one recognised conveyor-design package, including Sidewinder or Belt Analyst.

  • Experience producing coordinated deliverables across concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, detailed design and construction support.

  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English and confidence engaging with international stakeholders.
