Senior Legal Counsel – EU or UK Licensed Attorney (f/m)

The opportunity

This is a rare mandate: genuine deal ownership, direct access to senior leadership, and the chance to shape how one of the world's most active software acquirers does business.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you'll own legal execution across Smart Software Group and its eleven business units. You'll lead M&A deals from diligence through closing and integration, and advise our businesses on high-stakes commercial agreements. You'll report to the Group CEO, with mentoring and support from legal peers across our parent organization. More than half your time will be spent on M&A, backed by practically unlimited acquisition capital and M&A best practices that are hard to match anywhere. What you'll do

• Drive M&A execution end-to-end, from diligence through closing and post-close integration
• Lead the drafting and negotiation of SaaS and software licensing agreements alongside management
• Act as trusted legal advisor to business units on fast-moving deals
• Build processes and strengthen contract management and risk mitigation across the Group

What you'll bring

• Qualified to practice law in an EU member state or the UK
• 7–10+ years' PQE in corporate law and M&A, ideally with Tier 1 firm and/or in-house experience, including buy-side and cross-border deals
• A strong grasp of core accounting principles (a Business Administration + Law double degree is a plus)
• The ability to turn complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance for executives
• Full professional fluency in English; German or another European language is a strong plus
