About the role You will advise the international business on day-to-day digital and technology matters, delivering to the business the very highest standards of legal advice and regulatory compliance whilst supporting the business with its international growth. Your remit covers legal support to the global digital and technology teams encompassing product, engineering, data science, performance marketing and transformational outsourcing. You will support the business negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts relating to outsourcing, licensing, hosting, digital marketing, software development and other third-party engagements. You will also be responsible for advising on AI scoping, implementation, guardrails and training. As required, you will assist other areas of the business and legal team on a broad range of legal matters. You will also support the legal team to develop and enhance effective working processes with the business to ensure that the business’ objectives are achieved within appropriate timescales and with the relevant stakeholder approval. As a Senior Legal Counsel you will Advising on legal affairs relating to digital and technology, including AI, with supervision from the Senior Legal Counsel – Global Procurement Supporting the business with day-to-day legal queries, identifying legal risks and providing commercially sound advice Supervising junior team members Assisting with the development and implementation of legal procedures and policies to ensure the business’ compliance with applicable laws Drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts, legal documents and other regulatory or contractual requirements Supporting the business with legal proceedings, working with outside counsel when required Preparing and conducting legal training for staff Who you will work with You will report directly to the Senior Legal Counsel – Global Procurement About you Communication and Stakeholder Management Communicates, explains and presents complex legal or business information and consequences of decisions in a simple and accessible way Builds trusted business relationships and effectively manages and communicates with stakeholders during a project Ability to adapt communication style and approach to maximise impact across a range of audiences Influences and persuades effectively, looking for and achieving an outcome in the best interests of the business Demonstrates an ability to think, work and manage in a structured and organised way; effectively delegates and prioritises workload Plays an active role in suggesting and delivering innovative solutions to achieve results Professional Excellence and Business Acumen Experienced and adaptable legal professional, who exercises skill, capability and knowledge in complex situations Develops a specialism and makes further contribution through developing others within that specialism Proven analytical skills; demonstrates the ability to develop and apply governance processes and control mechanisms relevant to role Exercises sound commercial judgment in negotiation of contracts and giving advice, anticipating counter-arguments Considers commercial and legal implications even when dealing with complex business requirements/negotiations and learns from experience; drafts with precision to avoid adverse consequences Supervises the structuring, drafting and negotiation of contracts and other documents by more junior team members Recognises, understands and maintains effective communication with key stakeholders on risks within projects; promptly and effectively addresses unforeseen risks if they arise. Exercises judgment on when to seek specialist advice, involve other business areas and/or escalate Demonstrates understanding and awareness of commercial issues that may impact the business and the beauty/retail market Demonstrates understanding and awareness of other cultures, jurisdictions and business approaches Takes initiative to contribute to the team’s knowledge bank developing relevant precedents, templates, and playbooks; identifies, develops and implements improvements to internal legal and business processes Develops, facilitates and presents training for legal and business colleagues Personal Conduct and Leadership Positive committed and flexible in the work environment. Adapts quickly, positively and effectively to change in all situations Supervises junior team members. Creates an environment that encourages and supports the team; motivates others in times of change Recognised as a trusted advisor.
