Job Description

  • Hybrid working: 2days in the office & 3 days remotely.
  • Full-time perm opportunity, Location: Kent Street, Sydney
  • Gain broad exposure across Financial Crime, Non-Financial Risk and complex change.

Our Business Controls and Monitoring (BCM) team sits within the Chief Operating Office in Risk Division, partnering with the business to identify, understand and manage risk. As Senior Manager, Risk in Change, you’ll provide first-line risk support across significant change initiatives, with an initial and primary focus on Financial Crime.

About the role:

Reporting to the Executive Manager, you’ll partner with senior stakeholders across Risk, Change and delivery teams, balancing effective risk management with commercial, customer and delivery considerations.

Working closely with initiative owners and delivery teams across the change lifecycle, you’ll help identify and understand risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and potential constraints. This isn’t simply about capturing and reporting information. You’ll use your judgement to determine what matters from a risk perspective, connect the dots and draw out the broader implications, turning complex informationinto meaningful insights that support informed decision-making.

At the heart of this role is your ability to get into the conversation, ask the right questions and make sense of complexity.

Key responsibilities:

This is a highly collaborative and stakeholder-facing role, requiring you to build credibility quickly, engage confidently and challenge thinking appropriately.

  • Partner across the change lifecycle, providing strategic and technical risk advice from business case development and solution design through to build, testing and implementation.
  • Lead and facilitate risk conversations and workshops to uncover emerging risks and potential constraints.
  • Analyse information across change initiatives to identify themes and implications that inform better risk-based decisions.
  • Build trusted relationships with Line 1 and Line 2 Risk and Compliance specialists, confidently influencing and challenging where appropriate.
  • Support the delivery of strategic data assets and capabilities across Risk Division, bringing a risk lens to complex change.
  • Escalate and present risk information through governance forums, clearly articulating key considerations and where attention may be required.
  • Contribute thematic insights to broader Risk in Change reporting and the ongoing development of Risk in Change practices.

About you:

You’ll be a commercially minded, curious and credible risk/change professional who is comfortable stepping into complex stakeholder environments and navigating ambiguity.

  • Strong risk and/or change experience gained within a complex, regulated environment. Exposure to Financial Crime, Non-Financial Risk, technology, data, compliance or transformation would be advantageous.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the confidence to lead conversations, influence, challenge appropriately and build credibility across different audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to cut through complexity and apply sound judgement to risk considerations.
  • A curious, proactive and resourceful mindset, with the initiative to seek out information and work through unfamiliar challenges.
  • Adaptability and learning agility, with the ability to quickly build knowledge and move between priorities as the transformation landscape evolves.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence working across a range of project and collaboration tools.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. What’s important is having the confidence, judgement and learning agility to quickly build your understanding, seek out the right information and find a way forward.
