Milla Pharmaceuticals Inc., an A.forall Company is seeking a highly analytical and strategic Manager/Senior Manager of Business Development & Portfolio Management. In this role, you will drive the long-term growth of our pharmaceutical pipeline by identifying strategic growth opportunities, leading due diligence, and orchestrating comprehensive asset valuations. You will sit at the intersection of science and finance, evaluating both internal R&D priorities and external in-licensing or M&A opportunities to maximize our therapeutic impact and commercial return. This position offers the opportunity to take on responsibilities beyond business development and portfolio management, contributing to the continued growth of the U.S. organization’s commercial infrastructure.
The Job Description
Senior Manager, Business Development & Portfolio Management undertakes full responsibility of the following:
Business Development & Deal Execution
· Deal Sourcing: Actively scout, identify, and screen external pipeline opportunities (from pre-clinical to late-stage and on-market assets) aligned with our core therapeutic areas.
· Due Diligence Leadership: Coordinate and lead cross-functional due diligence teams across R&D, Regulatory, Legal, and Operations to evaluate external assets.
· Deal Structuring: Draft and negotiate term sheets, confidential disclosure agreements (CDAs), and definitive agreements for in-licensing, out-licensing, and strategic collaborations.
· Alliance Support: Partner with alliance management teams to ensure smooth transition and operational success of newly executed partnerships.
· Portfolio Management & Financial Modelling
· Product Selection: Identify internal product development candidates that align with organization’s therapeutic focus that will match or exceed established profitability threshold. This role will be a significant contributor to ideation and validation of BD/R&D ideas and strategic analysis/thinking regarding the future positioning of the pipeline/portfolio.
· Valuation Modelling: Build robust financial models, including Net Present Value (NPV), risk-adjusted forecasting, and deal-structure simulations to support corporate investment decisions.
· Strategic Alignment: Continuously evaluate the internal R&D portfolio against market trends, pricing shifts, and the competitive landscape to recommend project prioritization or termination.
· Corporate Presentation: Synthesize complex commercial and scientific data into crisp, persuasive investment theses and presentations for executive leadership.
Your professional profile
Qualifications & Experience
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Finance, or a related field is required. An MBA is preferred but not required.
· Experience: Minimum of 4–6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a proven track record specifically within business development, investment banking, or portfolio strategy.
· Analytical Skills: Advanced Excel financial modeling skills, with strong proficiency in industry intelligence platforms, including IQVIA, Cortellis, GlobalData, and EvaluatePharma, as well as FDA data sources.
· Strategic Judgment: Ability to synthesize commercial, scientific, and financial inputs into clear, well-supported business decisions.
· Communication and Leadership: Demonstrated ability to:
o Lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority across scientific, operational, and financial functions.
o Manage stakeholders effectively across U.S. and global teams.
o Apply sound judgment, pragmatism, and a strong execution focus in a growing organization.
o Collaborate effectively in matrixed and international environments.
Preference will be given to those with professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in generic medications. Will make exceptions for US Military Veterans with relevant experience.
