About this role

The Senior Manager, Financial Advisory Strategy & Operations supports the ongoing delivery, product development, and strategic priorities of Alight Financial Advisors (AFA).

This colleague will serve as an execution partner to AFA leadership, translating priorities into organized workplans, coordinating cross-functional contributors, tracking decisions and dependencies, and helping move operational, product, client, partner, contracting, compliance, and governance initiatives to completion. The role requires sound judgment, disciplined follow-through, comfort working in a regulated environment, and the ability to manage sensitive and complex matters with appropriate escalation and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Initiatives and Project Delivery

  • Build and maintain integrated project plans for AFA strategic, operational, product, regulatory, partner, and client initiatives, including milestones, owners, dependencies, decisions, risks, and target dates.
  • Translate leadership direction and complex business needs into practical workstreams, meeting cadences, decision points, and executable next steps.
  • Drive follow-through across concurrent priorities by monitoring status, surfacing constraints early, and escalating issues requiring leadership attention.
  • Prepare concise status updates, leadership briefings, decision materials, meeting agendas, and action summaries.
  • Coordinate implementation-readiness activities and transitions from strategy or contracting into ongoing delivery.
  • Present persuasively to leadership internally, with external partners, and with clients to build credibility and influence outcomes.

AFA Operations & Business Management

  • Support the Director of Advisory Operations in orchestrating AFA’s day-to-day operating rhythm, including prioritization across various projects and initiatives, ongoing operating reviews, issue tracking, and cross-functional follow-up.
  • Document new and enhance existing operating procedures, controls, and handoffs across AFA and adjacent Alight teams.
  • Coordinate information needed for internal work agreements, budgets, vendor activity, invoice or fee reviews, and management reporting.
  • Organize source materials and maintain disciplined version control for business-critical documents.
  • Support collaboration with sub-advisors, recordkeeping teams, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Product, Technology, Sales, Client Management, and other partners.
  • Assist with review and tracking of workflows for investment management agreements, statements of work, amendments, fee disclosures, participant terms, regulatory disclosures.
  • Review, evaluate, and enhance materials that drive the engagement and awareness of Advisory Services across multiple channels, such as the digital experience, email, and print communications.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to the needs of Sales and Client Teams, driving successful outcomes for new logo pursuits, renewals and client retention, and expansion efforts.

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Management

  • Identify and eliminate recurring friction, manual work, unclear handoffs, and reporting gaps; recommend practical improvements that strengthen quality, efficiency, scalability, and transparency.
  • Enhance existing and develop new reusable templates, playbooks, trackers, and standard work for recurring AFA processes.
  • Use approved collaboration and workflow tools to improve organization, reporting, and institutional knowledge while following information-security and records-management requirements.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, thoughtful challenge, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Success Measures

  • Consistent, on-time execution of AFA strategic and operational priorities.
  • Clear visibility into initiative status, ownership, risks, dependencies, decisions, and next actions.
  • High-quality, accurate, and timely leadership regarding governance, partner, client, and regulatory materials.
  • Effective coordination across AFA, Alight, client, and partner stakeholders.
  • Strong document governance, version control, action tracking, and evidence of required reviews and approvals.
  • Measurable process improvements that reduce rework, strengthen controls, and increase operating capacity.
  • Trusted partnership with AFA leadership, including the Director of Operations and Vice President, Financial Services.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to manage complex and evolving workstreams, create structure in ambiguous situations, and drive completion through influence rather than formal authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including synthesis of complex information into executive updates, decision materials, and action plans.
  • Experience in business operations, project management, consulting, financial services, retirement services, investment operations, or another regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational discipline, judgment, and follow-through.
  • Experience coordinating across business, client, product, technology, finance, legal, compliance, and/or external partner teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint or comparable tools.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and within established approval, risk, compliance, and record-management processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of defined contribution plans, participant advice or managed accounts, registered investment advisers, fiduciary services, or wealth-management operations.
  • Experience supporting contracts, investment-management agreements, regulatory disclosures, client implementations, RFPs, or vendor and sub-advisor relationships.
  • Experience with project and workflow tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Planner, Jira, or comparable platforms.
  • Project-management certification or training, such as PMP, CAPM, or Agile, or equivalent applied experience.
  • Relevant financial services credentials, licenses, or coursework.
