Senior Manager - Financial Transactions and Policy

Howmet Aerospace is currently in search of a Senior Manager - Financial Transactions and Policy based at Howmet Corporate Center on the North Shore in Pittsburgh, PA. The position reports to the Assistant Controller of the group.

The Financial Accounting (FA) department is responsible for assisting the Segments and Resource Units with addressing complex accounting issues and developing accounting policy for Howmet worldwide. Also, the FA department performs financial analysis and represents Howmet's financial and accounting interests associated with acquisitions and divestitures.

This position is accountable for complex accounting, reporting, analysis and audit activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting of the Howmet’s financial results for both internal and external purposes. The candidate would be required to analyze and evaluate accounting policies and transactions; analyze, test and report test financial data; and participate in the preparation of financial and management reports for use by senior level management. The candidate would also be required to add interpretive value and context on accounting matters through consulting with Business Unit and Resource Unit management.

Major Activities:

• Evaluating, documenting and concluding on complex accounting issues and financial transactions identified/ proposed by Resource Unit, Segment and operating location personnel.

• Developing and implementing procedures for new accounting pronouncements and developing global accounting and reporting standards.

• Providing oversight of and revising the Howmet financial accounting policy manual.

• Analyzing monthly financial results of legal entities and summarizing findings for review by executive management.

• Assisting with the preparation and review of SEC financial filings and quarterly earnings materials.

• Managing on-going relationships with personnel within an assigned Business Unit-customer base and in various Resource Units (e.g., Business Development, Treasury, Tax, Legal, etc.).

• Assessing and improving key internal controls of the FA group as well as working with Segments, Compliance Managers and Resource Units to enhance our controls

• Coordinating various requests and analyses with the External Auditors

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university

• Professional Certification (CPA)

• Minimum financial accounting work experience of seven years

• Extensive knowledge of accounting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC reporting requirements, as well as introductory knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong communication and technical writing skills

• Work experience in SOX and internal controls over financial reporting

• Work experience in national public accounting firm

• Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration

This will be hybrid role with a 3 day in office expectation here at our Corporate Center in Pittsburgh, PA. There is a potential for up to 10% of travel.

Salary range: $135k - $155k/year approximation (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
