About this opportunity
As Senior Manager, Financial Crime Business Optimisation, you’ll lead a team of Financial Crime and change specialists, embedding Financial Crime requirements across business, product, operational and technology change.
You’ll act as a trusted adviser to first-line teams and internal partners, providing constructive challenge and clear recommendations, prioritising resources according to risk, and deputising for the Head of Financial Crime Optimisation when required.
Working across Consumer and Connected Finance, technology and Economic Crime Prevention, you’ll translate complex risk and policy requirements into practical, joined-up controls that enable safe and sustainable growth.
You’ll also help shape the future of Consumer Financial Crime change, with a focus on stronger governance, clearer portfolio insight, better use of data and the controlled adoption of AI-supported change management.
Day to day, you will:
- Lead and develop a team of subject matter experts, setting clear priorities and allocating resources according to risk.
- Represent Financial Crime across business-led change, defining requirements, assessing impacts and translating policy, regulation and risk appetite into practical solutions.
- Lead Financial Crime change across business and platform roadmaps, resolving barriers and influencing priorities and delivery.
- Provide expert advice and constructive challenge on complex Financial Crime, risk, control and change matters, balancing regulatory requirements with customer and business outcomes.
- Play a leading role in Financial Crime change governance, helping ensure material change is visible, prioritised appropriately and brought up where leadership intervention is needed.
- Drive improvements that simplify processes, strengthen controls and improve operational efficiency and resilience.
- Use data and insight to inform prioritisation, demonstrate the impact of change and support better decision-making.
- Work across the Economic Crime Prevention ecosystem to support delivery of policy, regulatory and audit actions, while supporting the controlled adoption of technology and AI.
What you’ll need:
- In-depth understanding of financial crime risk and controls, capable of interpreting policy and regulatory requirements and converting them into clear, practical change requirements.
- Experience managing complex business or regulatory change, from initial impact assessment and requirements definition through governance, delivery and embedding.
- Strong risk judgement and critical-thinking skills, with the confidence to make or recommend decisions where the position is complex, uncertain or contested.
- Experience of building effective relationships across business, operations, risk, change and technology teams.
- Ability to manage a broad portfolio, prioritise resources according to risk and value, and maintain delivery focus across competing demands.
- Ability to transform complex information into clear recommendations, governance updates, and executive-level narratives.
- Demonstrated experience in leading people, including defining goals, mentoring peers, developing skills, and fostering an inclusive, responsible team environment.
- Confidence in working with data and management information to spot patterns, support decisions, and clarify delivery, operational, and control impacts.
- A customer-focused approach that considers customer outcomes alongside risk, control, regulatory and operational requirements.
Any experience of these would be really useful:
- Experience of agile delivery methods or change-management tools.
- Experience of developing or applying AI-enabled or emerging technology within a controlled business environment.
- Experience of designing or improving change governance, portfolio reporting or impact-assessment processes.
