Cisco is seeking a government affairs and public policy professional to join its global Government Affairs team for a position based in our Brussels office as a Senior Manager of EU Public Policy. Reporting to the Senior Director of EU Public Policy and Head of the Brussels Office, this individual will drive core public policy priorities for Cisco, both within the company and with government officials and agencies, demonstrating subject matter expertise and acting as a collaborative partner and influencer.
Cisco’s Government Affairs team represents the company with governments around the world to build relationships with key leaders, advance Cisco’s public policy goals, and educate governments about our industry. Government Affairs is involved in all key legislative, regulatory, and global issues that impact the technology industry.
We are comprised of government and public policy experts across two dozen countries who represent Cisco at the highest levels of government. The team has extensive experience in and out of government and are recognized leaders in the industry.
Your Impact
As Senior Manager of EU Public Policy, you will represent Cisco with officials and facilitate our engagement throughout EU institutions. You will play a pivotal role in formulating and implementing innovative policy solutions that advance Cisco’s business and enable our purpose to power an inclusive future for all.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and advocate for key digital public policies in the context of the EU, across topics such as connectivity, investment and competitiveness, and circular economy
- Lead and support Cisco’s engagements with key government leaders and policy-makers in the EU institutions on your policy issues; further develop key relationships between these officials and Cisco executives
- Manage our involvement on your policy issues with key trade associations, particularly in Brussels
- Work together with colleagues in the Global Public Policy team and support your Government Affairs colleagues across the region
- Identify, analyze, and prioritize emerging policy issues and prepare responses such as position papers, presentations, publication pieces, and briefings
- Represent Cisco in relevant hearings, meetings, conferences, and media
- Work collaboratively with senior executives and experts across Engineering, Legal, Sales, Corporate Communications, Customer Experience, Strategy and Operations to determine public policy positions and advise on trends, potential implications for the business, and relevant internal strategies
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of public policy and government affairs experience in the public and/or private sector (e.g. having worked in an agency or government bodies; or having worked as a government/ public policy professional in a medium to large international corporation, trade association, law firm or consulting firm)
- Comprehensive understanding of the operation of institutions and regulatory agencies involved in tech policy issues in the EU
- Expertise and experience in relation to the ICT sector
- Familiarity with current policy priorities for the sector at European level
- Executive presence and strong advocacy, communication, and collaboration skills
- Advanced degree in law, political science, business, economics or similar
- Ability to travel throughout the EU and, on occasion, outside of the EU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Excellent English; French, German or other additional European languages
