Compensation: $180,000-$240,000 per year
Location: United States – Remote or Omaha, NE – Hybrid

The job:
As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at Buildertrend, you'll help shape the future of residential construction by leading teams that deliver high-quality, customer-focused software. You'll build high-performing teams and resilient practices by embedding with them, partnering closely with Product and Design, and coaching engineers to be product-minded problem solvers. Your leadership will improve how builders manage projects, reduce delays and deliver better experiences to homeowners.


What you will do:

  • Lead, coach and develop software engineers, with a focus on growth, performance and ownership.
  • Build and sustain high-performing teams that consistently deliver impactful software.
  • Champion Agile practices that support flexibility, continuous delivery and customer value.
  • Drive a culture of quality and innovation.

  • Collaborate with Product, Design, QA and other stakeholders to align goals and drive outcomes.
  • Improve and scale engineering processes for long-term sustainability and clarity.
  • Use AI tools to make your teams more efficient, from code review to test generation, while applying critical thinking and owning the quality of the final work.

Who you are and what you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong technical foundation.
  • 5+ years of experience managing software engineers.
  • Prior experience at a B2B SaaS company is preferred.
  • Demonstrated critical judgment in AI-assisted work including directing AI tools, catching failures, and editing output to a professional standard.
  • Experience with Agile principles and a focus on delivering meaningful outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across teams.
