About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Tax Compliance to own MARI's direct tax compliance and provision function at a critical stage of the company's global growth. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role within a lean global tax function for a PE-backed multinational organization with a complex, multi-entity structure. You will sit within the Global Tax Function, reporting directly to the Director of Tax, and working alongside external advisors across federal, state, and international compliance, provision, and reporting.
As the primary owner of MARI's direct tax compliance workstream, you will manage the compliance calendar end-to-end, oversee the consolidated tax provision engagement, and drive cross-functional tax coordination across Finance, Legal, FP&A, and Operations. This is a hands-on role where you will leverage technology and AI to scale direct tax processes, identify and implement process improvements, and ensure accuracy and timeliness across all filings and reporting.
In this role, you will exercise independent judgment across the day-to-day execution of the tax function — owning process, coordinating advisors, and surfacing issues with a well-formed point of view. You are expected to bring thoughtful business recommendations on tax positions and strategy, working closely with the Director, Tax to align on approach and ensure the right outcomes for the business.
This is a full-time role; qualified candidates must be based in or within commuting range of the NY Metro Area. Hybrid and remote flexibility are available.
The salary range for this role is: $160,000–$185,000 base + 10% target bonus. Salary is determined by market data, experience, location, and internal banding. Ranges will be discussed transparently during the interview process.

What Success Looks Like:
In the first 6–12 months, success in this role looks like:
  • MARI's compliance calendar is fully owned and running — federal, state, and international filings are coordinated and submitted on time without surprises. You are proactively flagging risks and keeping the Director of Tax informed on material positions, rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Tax provision workpapers and related deliverables are completed timely to align with financial reporting calendar requirements
  • Technology and AI tools are actively in use to improve direct tax workflows; you have identified and driven at least one meaningful efficiency improvement to compliance or reporting processes.
  • Transfer pricing documentation (Master File and Local File) and CbCR submissions are delivered accurately and on schedule, with clear progress communication to the Director of Tax throughout.

What You'll Own:
Tax Provision & Compliance
  • Own the consolidated tax provision and partnership compliance engagement end-to-end — coordinating with external advisors, review workpapers, and ensure quality and accuracy before submission to Tax Director for final signoff.
  • Own the compliance calendar: coordinate all federal, state, and international filing obligations with external advisors, flag risks early, and proactively communicate timelines and status to the Director of Tax
  • Oversee US federal and state withholding tax obligations, including treaty positions and compliance reporting; surface issues with a clear recommended position and work through material determinations in close partnership with the Director of Tax.
International Tax
  • Manage international tax matters including Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and other US international tax implications across MARI's global operations in conjunction with external advisors. Providing clear, business-grounded recommendation to the Director of Tax
  • Coordinate Pillar Two implementation with external advisors; own data aggregation, review, and project management.
Transfer Pricing
  • Lead transfer pricing documentation: own the process and timeline for Master File and Local File preparation, coordinating with external advisors and ensuring deliverables are complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule.
Technology & Process
  • Own the strategy and execution for leveraging technology and AI across direct tax — including compliance, provision, and reporting. Identify where the function should be more efficient, make the case for it, and drive the implementation.

Audit & Cross-Functional
  • Own the preparation of responses to federal, state, and international tax authority examinations — coordinate with external advisors.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Legal, FP&A, and Operations on direct tax matters impacting the business.

What You Bring:
Required:
  • 8–12 years of progressive tax experience
  • Exposure to cross-border and international tax matters
  • ASC 740 / tax provision competency — you can independently review and assess detailed tax provision workpapers
  • Solid understanding of GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and Subpart F mechanics
  • CbCR and transfer pricing documentation experience
Strongly Preferred:
  • Partnership tax exposure — Subpart K, §704(b)/(c) allocations, or PE fund / Top Partnership compliance experience
  • Experience leveraging tax technology and AI-enabled tools to improve compliance and reporting processes
  • Experience managing external advisor relationships, including coordinating deliverables, timelines, and quality review
  • Hands-on Pillar Two / GloBE experience — you have calculated GloBE ETRs, applied safe harbour tests, or implemented a Pillar Two tool
