You will work on complex, mission-critical projects for some of the most demanding data centre clients across Europe and beyond. This role combines technical leadership, engineering design, and project delivery. You will manage mechanical work packages, develop detailed designs and specifications, support testing and commissioning activities, and work closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. This role offers a strong opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who wants to deepen their expertise in mission-critical facilities and help shape innovative and sustainable data centres worldwide.

What you do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer (MCF/ Data Centres)

Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be working with some of the most demanding customers in the world and collaborating proactively with colleagues across the globe. Our MCF projects require specific and advanced knowledge and skills beyond the standard features of a building. A proactive Senior Mechanical Engineer is what our clients need. They also require consultants and engineers who think along with them and increasingly demand more detailed designs in 3D up to working documentation level. You will be helping them with exactly that. Our Brown Field Services team is always working in a live Data Centre, and your daily work will include risk management, executing assessments, and testing and commissioning protocols. Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Managing and delivering mechanical work packages in multiple projects;
  • Identifying the scope, design, and management objectives and delivering project documentation while ensuring the quality and flow of information required for contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Writing technical specifications and reports;
  • Assisting the project manager in the preparation/review of project costs and risk assessments;
  • Developing and maintaining vendor relationships ensuring continuous technical professional development. You will also review contractor pre-qualifications and prepared tender evaluation summaries for tender reviews, evaluate proposals and recommendations to the client regarding vendor selection, write technical specifications for tenders, represent Haskoning on factory acceptance tests and site testing & commissioning activities, and communicate the status of projects to internal directors and external stakeholders (clients) on an ad-hoc and formal basis.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team where your work will be cross borders, native and home based. In addition to participating in projects, you naturally also contribute to the optimization of our internal business processes and to safeguarding and sharing knowledge within your field. In this way, we continue to develop ourselves continuously.
