About the Role

Join a clinical AI team building a compiler that turns healthcare standards into executable, verifiable decision logic. The system is used in public healthcare settings in Canada, and this research-focused role combines rigorous experimentation with production engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Build a pipeline to parse clinical standards, transform their content, and validate executable modules.

  • Design and refine the representation used for clinical guideline logic.

  • Compare open and closed models, fine-tuning approaches, and constrained decoding methods.

  • Develop benchmarks, datasets, metrics, and adversarial cases to evaluate source fidelity, logical completeness, and recommendation correctness.

  • Analyze model failures and turn findings into experiments and improvements to the production compiler.

  • Build deterministic validators using static analysis, constraint solving, or formal methods to expose ambiguity, contradiction, and missing source support.

  • Collaborate with clinicians and company leadership to validate system outputs.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 3 years of research or industry experience, or final-year PhD or postdoctoral experience.

  • Production experience shipping ML or NLP systems, with strong Python, PyTorch, and Transformers skills.

  • Experience with LLM evaluation, training, or prompt engineering, and the ability to clearly document failed experiments and uncertainty.

  • Experience in a frontier AI research lab and authorization to work remotely in Canada or the United States.

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related technical field.

  • Experience with compilers, program synthesis, formal methods, or static analysis is valuable, as is knowledge of intermediate representations, constraint solving, SAT/SMT, or domain-specific languages.

  • Healthcare, safety-critical, or regulated-domain experience is helpful. Familiarity with FHIR or HL7 v2 is relevant.

  • Comfort working through ambiguity and across disciplines, and willingness to attend in-person offsites multiple times per year.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $250,000 to $400,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Remote, with the primary location in Canada. The role is also open to candidates working remotely in the United States.
