About the Role
Join a clinical AI team building a compiler that turns healthcare standards into executable, verifiable decision logic. This research-focused role has production impact, combining experiments with frontier models and engineering systems that make clinical recommendations traceable and inspectable.
What You'll Do
Build pipeline components for parsing clinical documents, transforming their content, and validating executable modules.
Design and iterate on representations for guideline logic, including exclusions, precedence, and recommendations.
Run experiments with open and closed models, fine-tuning, and constrained decoding.
Develop benchmarks, metrics, and adversarial cases to assess clinical fidelity, logical completeness, and recommendation correctness.
Work with clinicians to investigate model failures and improve the production compiler.
Build deterministic validators using static analysis, constraint solving, or formal methods to expose ambiguity and contradiction.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of research or industry experience, or final-year PhD or postdoctoral experience.
Production experience shipping ML or NLP systems, with strong Python, PyTorch, and Transformers skills.
Experience with LLM evaluation, training, or prompt engineering, and clear written communication about experiments and uncertainty.
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related technical field.
Experience in compiler design, program synthesis, formal methods, or static analysis is valuable, as is work in healthcare or another regulated or safety-critical field.
Familiarity with IR design, constraint solving, SAT/SMT, DSLs, FHIR, or HL7 v2 is useful.
Comfort with ambiguity and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and availability for in-person team offsites several times per year.
Must already be authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range: USD $250,000 to $400,000. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Remote role, with a primary location in Canada. In-person team offsites take place several times per year.
